That isn't as bad as I was expecting. Definitely repairable.

 | I got the Insurance agent to meet up with my body shop guy and I'am now waiting to see what the out come is. The rear 1/4 is really pushed in at the bottom and also at the top end. It is worse than it looks. It needs a rear 1/4 which is going to require a donor car. Both front and rear bumpers are gone and repairing RUBBER used parts car had small dents which will not show up until gloss paint is applied. The front bumper is pushed in and bent down, so who knows what is damaged under it. The part that sucks, is that NOBODY i.e., such as Classic Industries-Yearbook One etc., makes reproduction parts for the 1991-92 Firebird because it was a limited mod just for those 2 years. The OEM is LONG gone, so that leaves me with no way to get QUALITY parts and I would not want to have to track down a donor car and go thru that PIA . So the bottom line is, IF it is totaled (my body shop feels it is) then I would like to see what my buy back is and offer it (as a total car) to anyone who wants it for the quality like parts that this car has to offer. I will NOT piece it out, it's ALL or nothing.

But they would have to not care about used/repro stuff.

Goodmark appears to make a quarter:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/g...model/firebird
But who knows what the fit is like, and I can't tell if it covers the repair area.

I would have fixed this in a heartbeat IF the rear 1/4 could have been saved. So much work involved in getting it back to looking as good as it did BEFORE accident . Being ANAL doesn't help when OEM parts do not exist and reproduction parts are also NOT MADE, because this was an only 2 year (1991-92) design.

There is nothing wrong with used oem parts. you can easily find a rust free qtr panel. They are out there. The nose is easy to fine as well. I understand how you feel but its the body shops job to make it look like it never happened.

The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand. Or so I have read.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.

I was chatting with an adjuster and he does it on the side for fun. It really just kills residual value but its not that big of a deal to go through the salvage process so long as you cross your t's, dot your i's, and maintain records. No first hand experience though.
