toying with the idea of another bike

so... when i was younger (age 21-27 ish) i had 3 streetbikes, i never touched a bike or quad or anything before my first bike an 05 ninja 636RR , I bought it for myself for my 21st bday taught myself how to ride, took the safety class and was hooked.. around 27 we all started working diff hours, shifts, days etc; kept riding by myself but it was boring AF.

sold them all , now my buddy got a new harley, I rode it and it was pretty awesome, strongly considering either a harley 48 or maybe an indian scout...

who rides on here what do you ride ?

I am concerned about going from sport bikes to a harley or indian, like im used to flying, leaning really hard in turns etc; totally worried about not being able to adjust 100% to a calmer type of bike..

pros:
- fun times
- affordable
- why not

cons:
-death
-serious injury
-lack of use becuase too many toys

I'm gonna give some fatherly advice, sorry to be a downer. I lost one of my sons to a motorcycle accident. I have owned a motorcycle and almost had an accident myself, with my pregnant wife on the back, that incident made me sell it and never buy another. I worked with someone at my last job,who had also lost his son to a motorcycle accident. In the same workplace there was a man who had a artificial leg, caused by a motorcycle accident. Just within the last year at my workplace now, one of the machinist had a motorcycle accident with another bike. Again, sorry to be a downer but If I can save someones life or limb it would all be worth it.

Why would you take a pregnant woman on a ride? Never would I ever do that.

I still ride even after having my daughter. I have an 86 VFR750.

Made 89hp on the dyno lol

Don't get a Harley... $$$$$ and just break all the time. I am friends with people who work for a Harley dealer and they always said never buy one lol

			I have a 07 Victory.

Dont ride it as much as I would like. I find it hard to believe it's more expensive to register than my car.

I have a 2012 Sportster. Its a fun bike. We all know of stories of people we know being involved in accidents in both cars and motorcycles. It happens and most of NJ is heavily crowded with a lot of traffic so don't speed and wear items that make you easily seen.
As a Firefighter I have responded to a ton of auto/ motorcycle accidents. From my experience almost all of the motorcycle accidents I have seen involved a sport bike and out of those sport bike accidents the number one cause was excessive speeding. Just my 2 cents.

I mean I know how to ride, I understand that you can make a mistake while riding, no one is perfect and an invisible rider or person, I also understand that cars can hit you, ride like everyone is trying to hit you.
I know the danger involved, just trying to figure out if I wanna start riding again or not... I def enjoy it

and im sorry about everyones losses

It doesn't matter if you ride a Harley or Sport Bike if you are a good rider you can have fun in the twisties! We were out riding one weekend and a bunch of squids blew by us at a blistering pace. My buddy decided to test their skills. He set sail after them on his Road King. When the road got twisty he wore them out and in short order, they ran out of talent! Granted, my buddy is a former AMA national road race points winner but he has a blast on his Harley riding the back roads of Northwest NJ.

I have a 2008 Honda CBR1000RR, I don’t ride nearly as much as I’d like to, but it’s actually the one of the least expensive of my hobbies. I don’t have much done to it, and I’m thinking of selling for something less aggressive within the next year or so.

Last season was a wash though, I didn’t even put 1000 miles on. I would just carefully do your homework and shop, don’t rush into a purchase, there’s deals to be had. I found my bike sitting in the back of a Harley dealership while browsing bikes with a friend. It was easier for them to sell it directly than put it through auction and I got a great deal on it.

The hell with the bike, that’s selfish. Buy a pontoon boat so I can join in on the fun at F cove again. Win win for everyone, because I never come empty handed.
