That's pretty good, keep it up!
I just started going back to the gym 3 weeks ago, after not lifting anything for 3 years... At my best I was benching 330 and weighed 158. I was 5.9% body fat. But after not lifting for 3 years, It will be tough to get back to that

I assume you lift alone? so no spotter? If that is the case it will take a lot longer to get where you want to go, because you wont be able to safely push yourself past your comfort zone.

Yea I know, the first few times I had my dad spot me but between his work schedule and my classes its tough. Sometimes I split a rep into two sets of 5 versus one set of ten to be on the safer side.

Maybe you should try to recruit a buddy to lift with.

Still not always safe. If you are between pegs on the uprights you can be in trouble.

And its more of me having way to much weight on the second floor. If I got a squat rack I would want a lot more weight and maybe a new bar.

Ok well let me re phrase that, there is a very expensive pool table under my room and my mom would slay me, and skin me if something were to happen to it.

Yea, I am just wary of bringing more weight upstairs at the moment. And then my room would be really cluttered.

when i was lifting alone, i rigged up a couple of cables to hold the bar 1/2" below where it hit me in the chest. then in an emergency i could just drop the weight on my chest and wiggle out from underneath it. it happened more than once. then i joined a gym and realized that working out didn't have to be so dangerous...
whenever coming back to the gym after a layoff, it's important to retrain the muscles proper form again. and you can't expect to work out with the same weight after 2 years off, but two weeks off it might be possible.
also, remember that the muscle grows when it's resting, not when it's being exerted. so decent rest every night is as important as proper form. and listening to your body will help you avoid over-training. usually one to three weeks off per year are enough to heal the muscles properly and give yourself a chance to grow a little bit, too.

Yeah, I was pretty into lifting and also took the Personal Trainer course, so I know a lot about it. I just didn't have time, or motivation to make time after I got out of the Army a while back. But now I have a "project" (my wife's cousin) so I am going to the gym with him and trying to make him HUGE.. lol

Quick question for the guys that take super pump or similar stuff, is it wise to take an advil later that day? I am just wary of mixing chemicals...

Try to avoid taking painkillers. Not only do they mask important pain, they can limit muscle growth throught their method of action.
No pills, no caffiene when you are on the C.
