OEM LT1 Starter

Is their anything I should be aware of before I dive in and replace? Any tricks, obstructions and is it straight forward like a regular small block starter?

I had my car up on the lift yesterday just looking at BS and the starter is right there dude. Looks easy as all hell.

same basic concept as the previous sbc versions, just expensive as hell compared to plain sbc starters.

i think they run about 180 new, or something like that. Just remember, dissconnect the battery terminal first .....

i dont know why you think you need a starter, long starting time is probably not your starter since it still cranks. but have fun

eh, it could be. Mine took a long crank time, replaced it and new starter spun the flywheel a lot faster..the car starts almost as soon as I turn the key.

The LT1 starters seem to die from the heat of the exhaust. After burning up two of them (the second one just kept slowing down, and sucking up so many amps the engine had a hard tmie starting) I bought a CVR Pro-Torque starter for $150 from JEG's. Scoggin-Dickey has it for $123 right now. Thing turns the 381 over real fast.

when i had my 93 TA, i had to change the starter twice to get it right. first one made crazy sounds and grinded a lot. it still wasnt right even then, it made a sorta "whoosing" sound when engaged. I gave up and left it. I finally sold the car with it like that and i told the new owner though.
