Car Show
This is going to be more of a "Suggestion Box" type thread for the time being.
The only thing that is for sure, at least for the first season, the general classes and Best of Show judging will be by popular vote. Each attendee will receive a ballot on their way through the gate.
Professional judges are not a consideration for the Best of Show and class awards. Specialty awards may be professionally or sponsor judged depending on support.
Best of Show: All cars entered in the show are eligable to receive votes for Best of Show. Voting will be popular ballot.
Primary Classes: Best 1st gen Firebird, Best 1st gen Camaro, Best 2nd gen Firebird, Best 2nd gen Camaro, Best 3rd gen Firebird, Best 3rd gen Camaro, Best 4th gen Firebird, Best 4th gen Camaro.
Special Awards: Best Engine/Engine Compartment, Best Chrome, Best Paint, Best Wheels, Best Engineered/Conversion, Best In Car Entertainment, Best Interior, Best Camaro, and Best Firebird, Best In Car Entertainment(ICE)
Points System: Thats right gang, we are looking to design a points system so that at the end of the season we can declare champions for every catagory and special award. Right now the consideration is to give 50 points to the winner of a class/award and have it scale down to 20th place for that catagory/award being worth 1pt. Anyone have any other suggestions or any ideas they have seen work (the idea of a car show points series is new to me, i can't find an example anywhere to base this on)
We don't have any hardcore car show guys on our planning team yet (we will soon), so any suggestions of better ways to organize the primary classes or other specialty awards you woudl like to see are welcomed.

just one question, i assume these shows will obviously take place the same days as all the racing, with that being the case, Is there any chance a person could have their car in the show with still enough time or the opportunity to race as well?

it depends on scheduling. there are a few factors that will go into this, one is if the facility has space for us to provide lanes for all competitive racing catagories and time shot lanes as well, the other is the schedule of the day.
some of the info i have found seems to show successful programs that announce the car show winners just before the semi finals of the competitive drag racing classes. that may leave enough time for someone to jump into the fun run lanes for a few passes before they lock up for the night.
i doubt there would be any way of competing in the judged show and a competitive racing catagory though.

alright sounds reasonable, another question, you say how points are awarded for the show etc, this may be out of the question but, could those show points add to the race points? like say the first event a person races, and gains "x" amount of race points, but the 2nd event they show their car instead and gain "y" amount of show points, and that become "x"+"y"=total f body series points. i see how the race and show points should probably remain seperate but maybe by combining them it could be an all around fbody award thing, ie a "show and go award", lol... just food for thought

we will see how many people would be interested in both. i think most will concentrate on one or the other because we will be running the points for each judged class, best of show, and all the special awards. so there will be many champions most likely.

Will the show particapants get a voteing card? Im not to fond of peoples choice because of ballot stuffing, but if only the spectators are getting cards then it would be more fair and im sure more on the level.just my 2 cents because I went to the camaro gathering in vineland with my car and 1st place went to a car with oil on the intake manifold (a actual puddle of oil ) and I made a comment and was given a dirty look so i havent been to a peoples choice since then.It would be better to have a judged show and I have been to many judged shows to cut time just the basics are looked at and not matching numbers . Stock classes and Mod classes are seperated though and the name of the game is really nice paint and clean cars. Also an under construction class allows people to particapate that havent finished their cars but would like to bring them .

attendees and particants will both be given balots at the gates. in the ast two years of hte east coast nats we haven't been able to find any evidence of a balot stuffing situation. that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist to some degree, but our two best of show winners have been people whom few or none of the attendees could have known.
the seperation of stock and modified classes is something i will write down. if we cna find suport for more awards, i would be hapy to offer the additional catagories.
