Where are you planning on mounting the muffler, in the stock location?

WTF? Do you read what you type before you hit submit? The last part of that run on, grammar & spelling mistake filled mess doesn’t even make sense.

Why 2 mufflers in a 3rd gen? They make so many nice systems that fit the car, why would you want one that doesn’t?

If you want to run dual exhaust, study the pictures found in this thread carefully and decide if that's what you want:

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ex...l-exhaust.html

Keep in mind that any exhaust that doesn't exit somewhere under the rear bumper of a 3rd gen is illegal in NJ.

IMO, 'true duals' in 3rd & 4th gen street cars (ie not race cars or super crazy hp setups) is just a 'my nuts are bigger than your nuts' thing. I question if half the ones in that thread help or hurt. And dumps are track only, IMO.

Look at this mess. (you probably need to log in to see it)

Off topic, would you get under this car?

And if you must have flowmasters, they make whole kits that fit your car.

go with a stock exhaust and throw a pair of cutouts coming off of your headers!

Why don't you just mount a 3" in/out super 40 in the stock location then? It will require a bit of fabbing, but not as much as a completely custom true dual setup.

I know you want true duals, but isn't the mufflex 3.5" + 4" single out systems built with the 40 series race units?

BTW, what set up are you running that you feel you need that much exhaust, or do you just want duals?

another poitn with the whole "true duals" making power myth is that studies have shown that a single pipe actually acts as a scavenger between cyl pulses. a lot of testing shows that a big single provides better/easier packaging in the car and makes as much or more power than a complicated true dual set up.

you'll actually lose power putting true duals on a stock tpi motor. it creates too little back pressure. i had true duals on a 350 tpi... ran ok, switch to a 2-1-2 system and came alive.

if all you want is a nice exhaust note my first suggestion would be to skip the flowmaster muffler. save yourself the time, money, and effort and get a hooker or magnaflow kit and delete the cat. that will provide a nice tone and more power for far far less money

If you want the sound of the 40 (instead of the 80 series crossflow) just mount a 40 in the stock location. You just won't have 2 tailpipes....
