Line Lock opinions?
I'm in the market, is there a difference brand to brand?? Anything else to look out for? Basically, recommend me one  .

No real difference brand to brand - they all do the same thing. I recommend spending the extra cash to get one with pre-bent lines, makes the installation much easier.
I think Craig has the SLP one, and we installed that pretty quickly.

i have the Hurst one, looks nice, havent wired it yet though, and i got the lines from Thunder racing.

I have the SLP LL, had to replace the selinoid once (SLP covered it for me) works fine.

SLP and a few others have the kits with the lines and everythign prebent. just get one of them and get it over with.

SLP with prebent lines = price of just the hurst solonoid (from a really quick search), so prolly going with that. Found one on ebay for either 140 shipped or 144 shipped, gotta see which it is then might get that one.

does it matter if you have abs or anything else for the SLP one, bc im looking at it for my t/a and i have the 10 bolt rear with drums and discs in the front, no abs

i've had the Hurst Line lock for about 5 years now. works great and easy to hook up. Making the lines your self is not as hard as you may think, i used a socket set and bent the lines around them so not to collapse the lines, came out great. The instructions for the solenoid are extremely explicet and give u many different combos of instalation. Good Luck

Well, the SLP kit that he's talking about comes with lines pre-bent for a 4th gen. No one (that I know of) sells one with pre-bent lines for a second gen.

The 3 best kits I know, all offer about the same thing:
All three kits come with prebent lines and a prefab'd wiring harness.
Thunderracing - Is a Hurst unit.
SLP - I don't know which brand SLP uses.
SJM MFG - Choice of Biondo or Hurst Selonoid. SJM also offers an option unit and lines to delete ABS. This is suppose to be the only NHRA leagal wiring harness.
FWIU: NHRA require that there is a seperate power switch. I'm not 100%, I didn't check the rule book, but I don't know of any track rejecting a car for it, at least not us slow guys. Maybe a 9.99 car? But this is how I installed my kit from Thunder. I have a toggle switch to enable the power, and the activation switch mounted on my shifter. So I can't accidently activate should I have to make a panic stop or someone could turn in on by mistake. So if something happens the front brakes won't lock should I hit the button on the shifter when braking and shifting/turning.
You should use line wrenchs so you don't damage the fittings. The fitting in the ABS can he a %^@&*% to get out. And you'll need to bleed the brakes once installed. Total job should take no more then 2 hours. Biggest PITA is running the wires into the driver's compartment.

john i wonder if its the same for mine, i dont use a momentary button to activate mine, its purely off the toggle, and its not in a place that i could hit it by accident.
Sorry, I worked at the track all weekend and forgot to grab my book. I'll try to check this weekend.

Note to SLP: shrink wrapping the whole thing is cool and all, but what friggin genius decided to directly apply shrink wrap to the install instructions?!

meh the only part that got messed up is that little checklist of what's included in the kit. And whatever isn't readable on the paper is still readable on the plastic

ive got the slp LL and i like it. you dont need instructions to instal it. its that easy!
