The greatest day of my life is today!
I have been working hard towards my goals of what I eventually wanted to do since I came into the Air Force. Today, all the hard work finally paid off as I got a call stating in more words than less;
I would be turning in my;
for a set of;

For those unfamiliar with the badges, I am currently an enlisted aviator, and now will be a commissioned officer/pilot.

Thats awesome man! Congrats! Now OTC right? I forget the abbreviation for the training for enlisted to officer. Two people from the Warfare Center I used to work with made it as well and they said the training was cake. What are you looking to fly?

Yeah, its OTS (Officer Training School). Then I will be flying KC-135's back where I am from in Indiana.

Still active duty? I thought most of the KC-135 units were Guard/Reserve now.

Nope, leaving Active Duty, for a Reserve unit back home.

Congrats man, that sounds like a sweet deal. Even though you'll be reserve, you'll still have a healthy amount of flight time. One of my good friends worked at the Rock on base and was the supervisor for the Guard/Reserve flights. Do you have any flying experience as pilot?

Yeah, I recently got my private pilots license, so I have about 50 hours.

I did the part 141, and got the standard endorsments that comes with any single engine tricycle gear airplane.
Basically, if it has 3 wheels and a single engine (other than a high performance aircraft, and or tail wheeled aircraft), I am licensed to fly it.

Just an idea to help make the transition to large jets and busy airspace a little easier, find a place like Teterboro or any airport that has a flight school and get your Class B Airspace endorsement. You practice radio communications and flying in, out, and around Class B airspace, which is major international airports. You have to be quick on the radio communications, and fly at precise headings, air speed, and altitude. And also deal with not just one radio frequency for the airport tower, but approach and departure. It really keeps you on your toes. There's gotta be a place in south Jerzey that can get it for you around Philly's airport. It really helps a lot. Just an idea.

Not sure what exact flight rating you got, or what school you went to, but once you hold a private pilots licsence you are allowed to fly into any airspace (excluding class A airspace that requires a IFR rating). I have already flown into class "B" airspace as I was approved to do so with my certified student license as well as my private pilots license.
Not that any of this matters anyways, since I will be logging over a years worth of pilot training with the Air Force starting in the T-6, then the T-1, then the KC-135.

maybe they changed the rules. When I got mine back in '02, Class B was an endorsement where you had to log a certain amount of time in Class B airspace without any problems.
