tie rod end issue
yesterday i decided to replace my brake pads, front rotors, driver side hub and tie rod end. Everything went well except for trying to get the damn tie rod end off. i got it off the spindle with no prob but for the life of me i can not get it unscrewed off the shaft that goes into the steering rack. i've tried turning it both ways and got nothing. any ideas on what else to try?

put it back into the spindle (loosely) and try breaking the nut first, and soak it with some PB. If you can introduce some heat to it, not sure if i little propane canister will get it hot enough but if you can cherry red then it will come right out.

Yep, what he said, only use MAP gas. Hotter and faster.

i have seen some really bad ones before, i couldnt imagine the troubles without being in the air to.
Even the an acetylne (sp) torch it was still difficult to break it free.

Yeah Ive had them glowing from the oxy acetalyne torch and still had to use a 3ft cheater bar. Get it cherry red and get the longest cheater bar you can and hang on it.

got the bastard off yesterday finally. soaked it in pb blaster and let it sit then found the longest wrench that will fit and a short sledge hammer and she finally gave. had the torch ready to go just in case. two and half days wrestling the damn thing off then 5 mins to put the new one on lol. went to the passenger side to see if that one was gonna be the same way just in case if that ever would have to be replaced but that broke loose easy. So i know that one wont be a problem.

yeah forgot to mention that part, or at least checked if you didnt move that nut might be ok, but still worth getting it checked.

you change a tire rod you need an alignment. not optional.
