				Wheel Studs

Stock ten bolt, are these the correct wheel studs?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-100-7708/
And will they be sufficient to be used with drag wheels?

those should be them... they are the same exact ones i bought for the front of my car... i would get an extra pack of them even though i know you only need two but i got an extra pack and ended up screwing one stud up so it was good that i had extras... i have 4 spares though if you need an extra one... also i bought some really cheap summit brand opended lugs to zing them on with a few washers... the lugs you use to zing them on shouldnt be used over htough becuase they are pretty shot after wards i think iwent through like 4 lugs putting all 10 fronts on... and also you may need open ended lugs to clear the extended stud or just larger closed end but that may need to be measured...

I am gonna get I guess two sets for now and do the rear up, I got a set of cheapo lugs from advance so that should be good to go.

What kind of lugs did you end up going with?

on the front im just using a simple open eded summit brand lug nut... they arent pretty but they work... and are cheap http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-7540021/ when i get nicer wheels ill get some nice matching closed end nuts to go around... for now these work fine

my rear studs are what came on the strange axel and are only around 2" the stock lengths are like 1.6" but its just enough to get away with the drags so im still using a closed ended lug in the rear... so it just looks stock. the fronts are where they stick out like crazy... but tiz needed for skinnies...i would get a couple packs of the cheapo summit lugs that are open jsut in case your closed ones dont fit... and you can always measure them and get new ones later on when you have more $$

As I said in the chat room. The ones that are only 1" longer are at the very bare minium of being legal for weld wheels. Spend the money on the 1 3/4" longer ones. You can get away with the 1" extended set in the front with skinnies. I just run closed lugs up front.

but track tech wants to see that the stud sticks into the main portion of the lug 1/2 not including the washer.
I've seen them ask questions with closed ended nuts.

dude your not sopposed to open the holes... those were the correct facotry replacments... they dont just slide right in you need an air gun and install tool or old lugs and some washers to drive them in... i really hope your joking because if you did what i think you did its probably not that safe and you may need a new axle now...

I figured after having a wheel fall off you'd be wary of screwing up. It is important the hole is the right size. You did probably screw it up. Air gun is also the wrong way to install them as well.
Right

You are supposed to press them. The air gun method over stresses the stud. The are press in not pull in. I guarantee if you call ARP and ask they will agree with me. We've all done the air gun method, especially on single studs, but if I just had 5 studs break and I was building a car with more power than stock and I used drag radials, upgraded studs and such, I'd do it right. But that is just me.

I was just messing with Brandon, the studs are still sitting on my desk in pretty ARP packaging.

So Bonzo, I need a press and just have it push the stud into the hub?

Yes, push them in from the back is the correct method.
