Where to get an odometer changed

I am led to believe I have a bad gauge cluster in my t/a, the gas needle randomly drops to empty then slowly goes back up. I was told this happened alot with these clusters. If i purchase another, where can I get the mileage changed to my current mileage?

GM should be able to order you a new(replacment) cluster...but not reprogram yours.

Im not sure if it works like this with the F-bodies but i have seen cluster's get put into other cars and it takes a reading from the ecm for base mileage and then counts up from there using the speedo. So i am not sure if you will need it programmed or not. I would go to your local dealers service dept. and ask the service guy. if its something that needs to be done he will have a labor rate for it

This is the place we use http://www.modelelectronics.com/index.asp .

Not sure if they will adjust mileage on a used cluster.

F-bodies record mileage in the cluster itself. It is stored in the pcm and bcm, but is not used to display. Also it is inaccessible to access by dealers, only GM high-up can.

Most junkyards that sell clusters are, by law, forbidden to disclose mileage prior to sale.

The cluster may be able to be disassembled and just the fuel gauge repaired

If these are anything like the impala/monte stepper motor issue, you can buy them cheaply on ebay/amazon and install them yourself with a little soldering

http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/ho...r-replace.html

I replaced all 4 of my stepper motors in my 2004 Impala due to the tach needle going wonky, I will tell you it sent my heart racing while driving down the road and seeing your rpm jump to 5K while you have your foot on the accel!
