6th Gen Camaro talk

With the use of the new Alpha Chassis on the 6th gen Camaro, I otherwise don't see that drastic of a change to the exterior body. Could just call it a gen 5.2, like how some refer the LS1 body as a 4.2 to the Lt1 body gen 4 body. The body of a 2nd gen has such a different look to a 3rd gen you aren't going to get the two gens confused. Does the company feel that sales are so well on the 2010-2014 camaros, lets just make subtle changes and continue the sales or was their creativity lacking at making a much different looking Gen 6 along with the new Chassis?

I'd have to see an actual one to decide. But as an entirely different chassis gen 6 is fine.

I hope it is smaller and lighter.

Honestly I love how it looks. Especially the 14-15's. If they want to put another chassis under it with it looking basically the same I am happy with that. But its def a gen 6 if its a new platform. Also heard from a salesman that the new LT series of engines should find their way into the camaro for 2016. Idk how true that is

I think GM is trying to move in the direction of evolving the looks of a lot of cars instead of complete and radical restyles. Take the Corvette for example. C4 to C5 was a major change in appearance but you can still see the family lines. Same C5 to C6 and so on.

Radical restyles can be a hit or miss game. While performance or even just the name can be counted on to move a certain number of units you have the risk of polarizing people. So evolving the looks and continuing to up the performance is the safer play in a highly competitive segment.

I absolutely despise the spilt grille on late model Chevys - looks goofy and awkward.

Fender lines are cool, not really diggin the grill.

We will see what they end up with. If nothing else I am sure we can all expect a nice performance bump.

Perhaps we have struck on the greatest similarity between the Camaro and Mustang redesigns, really nice lines with highly questionable grills.

The more I look at it the more I think that firstly the huge bowtie needs to go, it just looks cartoonish and out of scale.

Also that point that the lower grill comes to is in no way related to the lines of the rest of the car. Its the same basic shape as the 5th gen with the lines smoothed and it makes that singular pointy edge just so glaring. its a distraction.

I think a case can be made for a new split bumper. it would follow the retro styling by generation anyway

I agree. Car looks great, probably performs great, but it's got a heck of a schnoz.

Although it's probably great for putting a huge intercooler up there.

The camo'd pic looks just like a 5th gen to me. The orange car doesn't interest me at all though.

That's just a picture of the Gm 130R concept from a few years back.

That's actually a heavily Photoshop version of the code 130 r.

the sixth generation will most likely be in evolution of the fifth generation. The overall dimensions will be smaller and the vehicle will be lighter.

At this point i'll just have to understand that the new chassis is enough to consider it as a next gen car. Be just as if it was a Pick up truck with a whole new stronger frame with minor body changes. I look forward to seeing the curb weight of the car.
