Cordless Impact Wrench
school me on the best bang for my buck, difference between impact driver and impact wrench, links to good deals? any help appreciated. will be used primarily for lug nuts.

the best I ever used was a snap on....but its pricey
craftsman also makes one and im sure kobalt does too

its been awhile since Ive talked to my snap on guy but I remember one of his sales pitches for these cordless drivers mentioned that the better impact wrenches have tougher innards than the cheaper ones...even went as far as to say that some of the cheaper ones like ryobi have plastic innards which can wear out really fast with heavy work.
now that is from the sales pitch of a snap on guy so im sure he was hyping up the snap on version quite a bit, but the portions about the cheaper guns being filled with plastic innards sounds quite feasible about the cheaper walmart quality crap.

That's a sales pitch if I ever heard one. I have a ryobi 18V impact driver, the small one that takes the snap-in bits, and abuse the living snot out of it. Going on two years old, no failures.

Dewalt hands down. I beat the piss out of Dewalt tools for years when I did construction and they never quit. Amazon has $25 off a $100 or more Dewalt purchase going on now too. Just picked up another portable vacuum.

Been really happy with my Milwaukee. Got it from CPO outlets and it's been great. Can't compare it to much else other than my corded Craftsman, but its stronger than that.

I have the IR K2. Cheaper and way better than the Snap On. I use it everyday and it's a beast. Bought it online.
I guess it depends on if you need it for work or not.
Dewalt is garbage imo and the rocker switch trigger is horrible.

I wouldn't waste money on the Snap-On. Aside from the price I felt they were too heavy and bulky.
I have two Makitas I've been using for about 10 years now. They've been abused and completely submerged in oil, coolant and tans fluid but they still work. Only issue I had with one of them was the trigger switch. I found the replacement on amazon for less than $10.
Only thing I would suggest is avoid NiCad batteries (if they still sell them) and get a Lithium Ion.

I have both craftsman and Milwaukee. The craftsman has served me many years and is a great tool. I just recently switched to milwaukee at work because it feels like a better product and the price is comparable to craftsman.

Dewalt has turned into cheap crap. They feel like childrens toys compared to a real tool like Milwaukee of makita. Im quite partial to Milwaukee. Thats what Ive reinvested into with cordless stuff. I have M12, M18, and M18 fuel stuff. The m18 fuel stuff could snap your arm in half like you were using a serious corded drill.
And FYI the difference between an impact driver and an impact wrench/gun is that an impact driver is for sinking screws. Whereas an impact wrench/gun is for nuts bolts, lug nuts, mechanical stuff, etc.

I have a socket adapter on my impact driver and use it for light usage of nuts and bolts also. Saves me a ton of time. For lug nuts and the like, I use the impact wrench.

The 20v lith-ion dewault I've used has kicked back on me a few times when I was first using it. It was certainly wrist-breaking strong.
