572ci GM crate motor....fuel injection?
My mind has been changing more times than i can shake a stick at when it comes to an engine choice for my planned project Camaro. I originally wanted a 427 C5R motor in it, then a step down to a 402, then another step down to a 383. I've decided to throw all caution to the winds. I want to top Jon Moss' ZL1 Camaro.
call me crazy (you know you want to). I want the 572ci GM Performance Parts crate motor for the thing - the race version. 720 HP.
i know the Moss ZL1 had a 572 (which was later swapped for a Donovan block, with somewhere around 582 or more cubes) which put out 770 HP. I'm not worried about power output with this engine. I want to get it somewhere around 900 or so HP, enough to push me into the eights (the ZL1 ran a best of 9.55). and that's 900 on the motor, before the planned nitrous shot.
now, here comes the really crazy stuff. The ZL1 was fuel-injected. I plan on my 572 going the same route. I also want it to have a couple separate fuel maps so that I can run it on pump gas when i feel like having a little more control on the street, and switch over to race gas for the track.
Are there any resources i can find about swapping a fuel-injection system onto the 572? does anybody know off the top of their heads what systems would even work with that monster?

isnt there a ram jet 572? or is that only the 502...
i'm sure the 502s system would bolt right up.

What kind of money are you looking to spend? If you want a realiable, consistant 8 second motor, call up Henry Jackson and compare prices. He priced me out a 615 big chief 14 degree head full roller 950HP quick 8 motor for around 17k.

bamman builds good motors too. he actually used to work for henry from what i understand, i know bobby's prices are lower than henry's.
then there is always scott schafiroff's stuff to consider
it really depends if you want a pump gas motor or an all out race engine. for a pump gas engine i would talk to shafiroff. they build some nice stuff.

i would highly reccommend scott schafiroff. he builds a hell of a motor. i love my 434. that doesn't quite put down the numbers your looking for but im sure that it you gave him a call they would be more than happy to build the motor that you want.

i agree, scott does great work. he does cost as much or more than the bamman/jackson's of teh world, but it is worth every penny.
there is a guy who lives a few blocks from me who bracket races at least 2 nights a week. he uses shafiroff motors and only has to freshen them every other season. any small block that can twist 7K or more and live that long impresses me.

Scoggin Dickey is putting fuel injection setups on the 572 crate engines. I forget the power output, but 790 seems to stand out in my mind. Add a 150 of N2O and you're at your 900 mark and then some.

thanks for the tip! i found This on S-D's website. It will do the job perfectly.
I may be a little too obsessive...i need more power on the motor than the ZL1. I'll have to find out what else I can do to this thing to get it over 770 HP.

as i told you on aim, forced induction would be much better than making power all motor...a twin turbo setup on a built 454 or something would be insane, and make crazy torque. all motor has its limits, and it gets too expensive in the long run.

770hp definately does nto require huge cubes.
look at the cartek prepped vette that put out like 1200hp on a 346cid twin turbo motor.
boost on a factory computer controlled engine would be a great way to make all that power without carrying around all teh excess weight of a mega cube iron block motor.

this isn't about what's easier or less expensive, it's about having a big ******' engine that makes an assload of power. i don't want forced induction.

Forced induction = more cubes. T/F cars only run 500 c.i. engines.....that giant blower helps a lot with making 8000 horsies.
