The ride of your life: the Mclaren F1
Ok, I know this is waaay off topic of camaro's and firebird's, but im sure there are many of you who wonder what its like to ride in one of the worlds most finest represetation of what a car should be, the Mclaren F1. i had the privelage of riding in one just last week, and because of it, it has changed my life, and made me halt my imprrovemenats on my camaro, and my 3000GT, cause, they just dont trhill me anymore, and I know no matter how much Id poor into my cars, it could never handle, and accelerate like it, so people, for your own saftey and for the love of your F-bodies, do NOT ride in one, unless you want to loose intress in your cars too, I was at limerock for the vintage festival, and my dad ran the main sponsers exhibit, the rolex moments in time tent, well I got to meet Carroll Shelby, I even got to get him to sign my T-top. Well BMW hosts a speciel session where special people get to take hot laps in a BMW race car. I wanted to be in a M3 GTR, cause i didnt think people were allowed to ride in the Mclaren, it was just out there doing laps to impress people, well, a person got into the mclaren when i got close, I thought it was just a photographer, or the press, so i didnt think nothing of it, so the BMW cars line up, and the M3 GTR was in front of me, well some guy jumps in fornt of me and goes out in it, i was pissed, but as soon as they all left, the Mclaren came in, I asked one of the personel if anybodys allowed to ride in that, and he said yews, go get in it, I literally had to stand back for a bit, i lost my breath. I got in, and we took off, well lets just say this about the ride, I always wonderd why people would spend a million and a half on these, cars, well now i know why, and it was worth every penny, we got up to 155MPH, and the brakes stoped that car as though we werent even moving in the first place, and it took those turns like they were specially buily for it. in the end when i got out, I couldnt close my mouth, I was so impressed, and because of that, I went right over to the Skip Barber racing school tent and signed up. So thats my answer on what its like, I am one of only a hand full of people to EVER ride in one, and that my friends, is one more life goal written off the list. Ifyou would like any photos of the Mclaren, and/or of the event, just ask, ill send em to ya. Ok, now that thats off my chest, back to your regularly scheduled F-body programming.[/u][/b]
