if your car all of a sudden is rolling over at 100 MPH... would you rather have that bar welded in, or detachable?

the rest of the cage is welded; it just has the detachable bar so that you can lean back your seat while DD'in the car, then put the bar back in to race.
It is really that much weaker? I kno that welding is stronger (comparing bolt-in subframe connectors to weld-in), but i wouldn't think it would snap like a tooth pic. am i wrong?

No, i'm not tryin to argue with u either, I'm just tryin to get all the info b/c down the line, i'll probably install one. I don't want to install one that isn't any better then not having one at all, you kno?
so with that being said, why would someone even buy that style if the most important part is removable?

The most important part is the main hoop. That crossbar is in place to keep the main hoop from collapsing or spidering if you land on your roof and it also serves as a place to attach 5-pt harnesses to. I am not a mechanical engineer but I would guess that all of the bars used in a roll bar or cage kit are geometrically positioned to distribute the forces involved in an accident in such a way that it will minimize injury.
People buy those styles for either looks or if a basic bar is required for some other racing class. Who knows.

not minimize injury thats what the seat does...the cage just holds a sturdy area around the driver in the event of a roll

of course its to minimize injury....in a street car with no cage, the seat belt is designed to allow you to move in the vehicle, that is incase the roof collapses you can duck or move with it..........
in a car with an upright seat and five point harnesses keeping you completely still in the seat, the cage is NEEDED to minimize injury in a rollover situation, a seat will not prevent injurys

so if i understand this properly I won't get in trouble for just the loudmouth at e-town but since i have nitrous I'll need a fire jacket.
Atco, I can probably just go as is since I have a DSL, and a helmet that is snell 2000 or something like that.
OR I can go to Island but will probably also need a fire jacket and possibly other things if they are so critical of safety equipment.
Got it THANKS.

englishtown and island will make you have a new helmet too, they changed it to a snell 05 rating.........
which is funny because they still rent the same old pos helmets
