Amp info?

Anyone know anything about Premier amps?

I have a Premier GM-H55 4 channel amp in my Jeep that I can't find any information about.

I have an Alpine MRV-F340 that I was thinking about replacing it with, but I have to check on specs of the speakers that are in there first.

Anyway, I'm just looking for any info on the Premier amp. It doesn't have much written on it, and google isn't being much help.

I'll have to pull the speakers first to see what they are. I was hoping to find info on the H55 so I could see if it was comparable in power to the Alpine. I don't wanna risk over powering the speakers that are in the Jeep, since I can't really afford to buy new now.

I'll get around to that one of these days and see what speakers are in it.

Dont worry about the power if it's to much. If you replace the amp you need to re-adjust the amp settings anyway. start low on the amp and high on the radio so you don't over power the speakers and slowly move the amp adjustment until prefered level. I would keep the switch to full not low if it has a crossover
setting. When you adjust, if you have 2 people the owner should sit in the driver seat while the other person adjusts the level if you don't have a meter.
We used to say if you can close your eyes and it sounds like the singer is on your dashboard it's perfect.

Ok, I've spent more time digging through the Jeep the last two days thanks to the nice weather, and I found a sticker that looks like it got pulled off of the Premier amp (it was next to it, under a mess of wires, so that's just an assumption at this point). The sticker shows 25w x 4, but not much else.

I just emailed Pioneer to ask for a spec sheet or owner's manual for the amp, so we'll see if they come through with something for me.

Well, I am going to go ahead and install the amp. I went through the Jeep and found out that all 4 5.25" speakers are JL Audio, but I have no clue what models. I figure they should be able to handle just about anything that Alpine amp can dish out, so I'll prolly make the swap on the next nice day we have.

i hope that sticker wasn't for that amp. my head unit puts out 4 x 26RMS with a max of 4 x 50w. the alpine should be nice for the JL speakers if they aren't too old or water damaged at all. the power will slowly, but surely kill them if that is the case. hope it sounds good, and loud!

Alpine has decent amps you should see a noticeable difference in clarity.
