Grand Am at NJ Motorsports Park
Just got home from the Grand Am race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The facility looks great. They raced on the Thunderbolt Course and it looks fast and there was certainly a lot of places to pass. Walking around leaves you with good views of pretty much every part of the track.
The race was well run and the cautions were all kept short as the local safety team was on top of every car immediately. The track also has a ton of run off room, so when someone does make a bigger mistake the consequences are more about the amount of dirt you are cleaning out of the car than having to fix things.
Only two rather minor complaints. I think I would have had even more if the facility had a bit more time to install facilities and amenities before this weekend.
There wasn't much grass, so people walking around and cars dropping tires made massive dust clouds. There was also a serious lack of bleachers, being an under-tall person this is sort of a problem for me.
Overall I would call it a track and a race that was definately worth the cheap $35 ticket. Putting Ferrari Challenge, Mustang Challenge, and the DP/GT Supercar Life 250 all on one ticket was great.

Got any pics? Sounds like it was some good action. I agree that the run off area's could use some grass and the all the facilities and amenities aren't 100% complete, but its still very cool to have a facility like that so close us.

No pics or vids unfortunately. I was out a bit late helping Randy99 with the dirt car. Rain delay and URC sprint cars set everything back and our feature didn't even start until after midnight. Then Randy managed to podium and we had to sit around and wait for tech. By the time I woke up sunday we had enough time to get there as the Ferrari Challenge race was going on.
I have a few pics on my cell phone, if I can figure out how I will post them up.

Email them to me....I'll host & post.
One of the owners of the track was interviewed on Windtunnel last night. Saw the replay of it this morning. He made it sound like there would be a good amount of opportunities for the "average joe" to get on the track....

How did carting go? Success? Results? Weather was super nice. I ended up at Giants stadium autox or I would have come down to see that. 1:04 lap times, that is flying. Were you catching air in turn one at the end of the front straight . Pics? Video?
