3rd gen Trans am keeps shutting off

i got an 85 Trans am 5.0 ho carb . its all pretty much stock. the car keeps shutting completely off . im driving its all ok , i pull to a stop and the radio shuts off indicating that its cutting off. i giv it gas and no go . my and JerzIroc were looking at the diagrams for that car. and we found a couple of things that were ONLY on the 3rd gen T/As 5.0HO carb engines. does anyone have any clues in what it is or how i fix it . we disconnected a relay and it doesnt do it as often anymore .

check the wire harness where it runs behind the engine, it sounds like something is getting all f'd up when it warms up

Yeah, I'd start with the feed wires off the starter.

lol juan i love you but you're horrible a describing things man lol.... the car doesnt evn have to be on for it to shut off. he can have just the ignition on car off and itll shut off as soon as he puts the heat on. i forgot what relay it as that we took out, but when we took it out, it wouldnt shut off anymore. i dont know why you havent just gotten the new relay. lol i thought we had this figured out dude??

I'd start with battery cables. If the car is just shutting off instantly it doesn't sound like a battery is dieing... It sounds like something is breaking loose for a second dropping out a circuit and therfore loosing all power car shutting off. Could be fuel.. I dunno but if it were mine checking the battery cables ( including to the frame)for tightness is a free check.

If the headlights stay on, the battery cables are good, and he probably has power at least up to the junction box. I would check the circuit(s) between the battery junction box and the central junction box for loose connections anywhere. Get a wiring diagram for the car and find everything that shuts off at the same time and follow them back until they meet up, then start looking around for loose connections and other abnormalities.
