well your assuming that by playing in D standard your slowing down. I play D standard with GHS boomers. the low E is .052. the thicker strings and the lwer tuning makes for better sound. I've even in the past gona as far as using a bass G for my E

This is true for bass too. thin strings suck. it also makes a difference in sound if you clean the strings well and wipe them down with good lemon oil before you play. I try to do it once every 2-3 weeks to keep the strings nice. I dont know if it makes them last longer or anything but it makes a noticable difference in sound. You will have oily fingers untill it soaks in too so be warned

Its still my GFs car at the moment. Im paying her off for it. Doesnt really matter i guess since i already registered it and have it on my insurance, its just like a bank loan. But yeah i guess ill change it lol. And yes, with lemon oil on the bass strings it makes a huge difference. I was in monmouth music playing a maroon jazz bass. I want it!!

seriously who isnt a mettallica fan... its like the only trendy thing im into hahah... but in reality and justice is probably the most intricate album metallica made... every song on that album is really hard to play.... kill em all is still my fav album though from them... i think and justice is also lars best druming performance... but i still hate him...

My '08 Les Paul Standard (one of the last Standards before they made all the weird changes to them)
I also have a '95 Mexican Strat with fat 50s and a '92 Ernie Ball Musicman Sterling bass

I always thought they were beautiful between looks and sound...if I was seeking another guitar and had almost any budget that would be the one right there.

I'm not really into metal, but I don't know many songs either, so if you up for just riffing and seeing what happens i'd be up for that.
