Anyone have any experience with these products?
If i pick up the daytona i'm looking at, i'm gonna want it painted, and i figured i'd do it myself. The car will be a daily driver not a show car so its either i paint it, or maaco does for their cheapest price.
I have a gun and 60gal compressor. ive painted my SS engine compartment before, and it came out good. That was with PPG products with mixing reducers and all and certain times you can recoat etc.
This system is lacquer, and ready to spray with no re-coat time window.
Its a primer, color, clear system.
Each Quart of product is 19.95.
About how many quarts of each would i need for a ttop daytona? (doing jams)
EDIT: was just reading a hotrod forum with a debate over this stuff, apparently its hated, lol. i really didnt know it was so looked down upon... geez. I have nothing against using PPG products on the daytona, just thought this would be easier and cheaper, but now i see maybe not. I admit im new to painting and i need advice and ill take it. When i did the SS job, i bought a Qt or pewter, the reducer, qt of clear, prep-sol, strainers cups stirrers etc and it was about $350, and when i was done, i had about 1/2 of the color and clear left, and even more than half of the other stuff. How many qts of ppg color and clear would i need to paint the daytona? if the dupli-color stuff is so bad, i dont mind sepnding the extra coin on a ppg system.... opinions? advice?
oh yea, as for a ppg color, itd be something close to GMs Artic White, somethign simple to mix and even match maybe in the future if i need to. BTW, the paint shop i wne t to last time informed me there are like 16 variations of light pewter metallic, it was fun for us trying to match mine lol.
Just as an example, Heres pics of my SS painting...
