PAC 1218 bee hive springs question
I run these springs on my car and shift at around 6500... I have been reading a few horror stories about beehives failing lately..
I think Josh (jerzlt1) had his start to let go and float so I am worried mine are gonna end up at that point too...
What do you guys think of these springs? I would really hate for one to let go and have PTV kissing.
Edit: No, that is not my engine, just a pic of a failed beehive.

The later comp 918 bee hive springs were the ones that were failing. PAC 1218's are the same as the earlier comp 918's. IIRC Comp changed their spring manufactures to some company in Mexico, thats when they started having spring failures. I had a set of 1218's and I never had a problem.

Agreed, also people complaining of breaking springs but they never talk about the install height, retainers etc. they were using. That does account for some of the failures, but the majority were Comp's springs that were poor quality!

So I can feel safe running these?
They were installed by Lloyd so I assume they were done right.

Sure, doesn't looking at that picture give you a warm fuzzy feeling? How old are your springs?

yeah Matt i had a batch of the comp springs, Lloyd wouldnt suggest them if they wouldnt work with your heads/cam. he told him himself to shift at 6300 and knew i would go through the traps at 6500 with my 4.30s and told me he would send me the Pacs if i didnt want the Patriot doubles that he sent me to replace the comps. you should be fine with what you have.

I have a set in my GN. Then again, I only spin the motor to 5500.
