cc Qjet fuel system help

i want to know if anyone has pulled the stock mechanical pump on an 87 LG4 fbody and used a fpr ? im installing a vortec 5.7L engine with an LT1 cam with no provisions for the mech pump. will my stock in tank pump feed the fpr enough fuel to keep a 5.5psi constant pressure to the stock 87 LG4 Qjet??

The pump + FP should be fine. I put a 355 in my 84 around 1998. Issue is getting bigger jets/rods. GM use to sell them as part of a retro fit kit, not sure if they still and they weren't cheap.

did the lg4 cars even have a stock in-tank pump?
if you had a mechanical pump, that was the fuel pump.

GM used both, an in-tank and mechanical pump on some cars. my 84 was one of the first with the 305HO and there was a hot start problem and GM's fix was to install an elec pump in the tank and I think it was done on all 85+ carb'd cars.

if it was a iroc with tpi it had a higher volume in tank pump something around 195lph... if your iroc was a 4bbl, and you mean in tank not "intake" (i thought intake refered to the one on the block)then maybe someone took it before you got to it

as far as i know the electric in-tank pump on carbed cars was some sort of recall or upgrade due to fuel boiling/starvation issues. I also had an 85 z28 5 speed and only had the mech pump. You can run a low pressure electric pump under the hood, ive seen it work before, but im not sure how well. That would prob be your cheapest bet

i think im gonna do the "wait and see" i have a fpg that will be installed riight in front of the carb to give an accurate read of the pressure the carb gets, if its not enough gm has a "corvette" in tank pump for 72$ its 195lph and is what was used with the old GM H.O. 350(zz4) street legal swap with a regulator like i already have
