scrapping cats
Hey guys, Last year I removed my Y-Pipe to put on an ORY. My old pipe is sitting in my shop and I want it out, I was told that I can get decent money for cats. Just wondering is anyone has any idea about how much they usually sell for at a junk yard. My guy that comes and picks up my scrap every week was going to give me $20 a piece for them but my body guy told me I can sell them to a junk yard for $50-70 each... can anyone confirm any of this?
side note: pipe is off a 98 camaro z28, 2 cats, pipe was removed last august with about 55k miles on it...pipe is in pretty good shape overall, cats are still in working condition.
thanks guys...also does anyone know a good scrap yard to sell them too? located in north jersey...live in bloomfield, work in union

I had a scrap guy stop by the other day and give me $50 for 1 cat. The larger catalytic converters are worth more. Since your car has two cats they are usually smaller and are worth less individually.
You will get more if you take them to the scrap yard yourself

Visit LS1Tech... there are a few guys who offer IIRC ~$110 for the two LS1 cats shipped.
