Diagnostics and stuff

Maybe someone can help. I just bought a ALDL cable for my 94 TA to read codes. Without having to do tons of research and whatnot, I was hoping somebody can post the values of their good running cars so I can compare to mine. I tried to save and post my page but couldnt figure it out. For example. at idle what my O2 millivolts should be, what my spark advance should be, knock retard and count, airflow rate. Im using a program called pcm communicator. that is the only pgm i could get to work.I know stupid question. sorry yal. thanks

your o2 voltage should be switching once the car enters closed loop. It will bounce from over .450mV to under (IIRC) and continue doing so. They are constantly reading the a/f of the motor and making slight adjustments to the fuel tables. You shouldn't have any knock retard with the motor running, sometimes startup will trigger some counts.

Is it a stock tune?

Thanks for the cable by the way. Yes stock tune. My O2 mvs were all over but o2 blm and del were all the same. There was no retard. The spark advance was 18 degrees. airflow was 8 gm/second. Does closed loop and open have to do with MAP? And it was idling at 650-700. Does al this sound right?? I'd like to take a spin and log it because I'm hesitating and bogging at 1500 rpm. Thanks again

Closed loop occurs after a certain coolant temp is met along with a couple other parameters that I can't think of. Then the o2's start operating. If your blm's are 128/128, you are good. Spark sounds right. I would look at tps voltage, make sure its steadily increases from about a half a volt closed to over 4.5 volts at wot. It might also display percentage, so 0 to 100. Also look at the IAC counts, should be around 30-40 at hot idle. Is it only hesitating/bogging when you are accelerating?

No problem on the cable

I was only able to use a program calledpcm communicator. I couldnt get tunercat and all those other ones to work. This one kinda sucks. It doesnt have any sensors besides o2. It has tps percentage but no IAC. It backfires when accelerating and studders around 1500-2000 rpm at cruise. Im pretty sure I need plugs and wires, havent had a chance to do them. I replaced some sensors when i got car and been working out kinks as i go.

I would definitely pull some plugs out and check them. You couldn't get freescan or datamaster to work though? Sometimes you have to change the comport in the settings.

I had to change the com port to get this one to work. I have to tend to newborn twins so theres not much free time to do car stuff. I will try the datamaster again one of these nights.

Download the free version of Data master for your year car (will work 20 times) and you can do some short data logging.

http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DataM...ownloads2.html

I use this for data logging 93s and 94-95 and it works very well.

As far as what the reading mean, check out Fred's write up.

http://www.injuneer.com/ScanMast.html

Start with these, the post your result or Scan and we can take a look.
