Stock GM Closed Crankcase Question

What are some negatives to converting a closed system crankcase vent system to an open one. Or, perhaps keeping it closed, but adding a catch can.

Thanks.

The biggest problem with the open system are fumes coming inside the car and the breathers dripping oil. I ran two open hoses from each valve cover to the bottom of the trans tunnel to eliminate the problem and have not had any oil leaking from the hoses. At one time I ran a water/oil separator in the closed system which worked to keep the oil out of the intake but it had to be emptied frequently.

i have heard a lot of people using the catch can system on ls1 tech, if it is hooked up correctly you should have no problems.
