new cat and heater hose's
i thought it was time to change my heater hose's and do a flush on my camaro. this is the second flush ive done but first time changing the all the hose's. the heater core took me a few hours, there is a torx bolt securing them to the inner frame of the car next to the engine. while i had the right bit for the job i could not get a ratchet in there nor could i get it with an extension from underneath. i ended up using vise grips on the torx and turning it slowly and of course dropping the bit several times under the engine in the cradle. after that was out i thought i had long enough needle nose pliers to get under the cowl to the clamps, wrong! after tearing my arms up from the pins that hold down the rubber seal, i pushed them out so that would stop. now comes the easy part getting the old hose's out, well there was a small bundle of wires keeping that from happening. i was trying to get the assembly out in one piece so i wouldnt have to spend $106.00 dollars on a new one next time if there still available.
i also removed two coils and the heat pipe off of the exhaust manifold.
so i ended up cutting one of the metal lines to get it out, not to bad i can still use it. putting the lines back in wasnt as bad, they fought me a little bit but i won. i also changed lower rad hose, along with new dexcool and distilled water. i havent changed upper hose yet, i bought a new power steering cooler so i can delete the factory one, no one had the upper in stock. this was about 2 weeks ago and all is good and my arm is healing.
today i had my driver side cat replaced it was under warranty, which for my car is 10 years or 120,000 miles
just thought i would share my fun.
