Don't worry if its not done, there are plenty of works in progress that show up at the Chatterbox drive in lol. Mine is at least a year away if I'm lucky. I'm betting it will cost at least 3K to build the motor I want. All I have left on the chassis is rear calipers, front rotors, pads for all four corners, parking brake cables, all the brake hard lines and fuel hard lines. Need motor and the body and interior need work, but I'm working on getting this done and sorted mechanically before I worry about cosmetics. Mine will be up at the Chatterbox in primer and a bare metal interior.

nice
yea on a warm weekend im gonna do a flat black or satin silver rattle can job. im pretty good at it. i still have the factory suspention on mine, aside from the iroc 9 bolt rear, and aftermarket shocks, struts, sway bars, and traction control bar. i wanna get a nice set of wilwood brakes. my dad wont let me though on the fact that they are too expensive. we didnt rebuilt the whole thing. 2 owners ago put in the new interior, and the previous owner put in the iroc rear. we just de rusted it,and did engine, tranny, and cosmetic stuff. im gonna post a vid in a few minutes let me kno wut u think. i also have a spoiler off a early 80's trans am, but im kinda steering towards the hawks 5 inch spoiler. i have really been steppin up, payin for the really expensive stuf after months of saving, and workin on it by myself.
i just took off the t top center bar and de rusted things yesterday. luckily no holes
man that silicon is tuff stuff to get off. my fingers still hurt

My advice on the sway bars, stick with the factory ones. The biggest ones are 36 up front and 24 out back. There is a 25 rear sway bar but those are rare as hell and might not be ideal for handling on the street. I'm using a 36 up front which I upgraded from a 32 to go with the original 23 rear. They are common enough and can be had dirt cheap. I found the 36mm one for 15 bucks. The aftermarket sways just cost money. Get SFCs as well. I'm not sure if you're on thirdgen.org; but if you are, you will find you can't really do much as far as brakes go with the factory wheels. While I am rebuilding the car, it was mainly because it really needed it. My suspension was totally gone. The T56 was scored for 700 bucks. I am running the factory original 3.73 10 bolt rear. It was rebuilt back in the early 90s when my dad took it to a shop to have it done. I'm running an Eibach Pro Kit and Koni Yellows. Don't ask me how it performs because I don't know yet. I'm betting based on my friend's 82 and another friends 02, it will run mid 12s with ease, possibly run mid 11s if I get it to hook, and top out realistically somewhere north of 170 with mid to high 4 0-60 times. We've had the TA since 1990.
The lights are a neat touch, I'm not a big fan of the ones under the dash pad being on when you're driving. Its bad enough when you pass SUVs with their high beams on. But I like where you put them under the dash and in the wheel arch. Its a modern take on interior lighting.
Here are the pics for my car and project. Its been a work in progress since I tore apart the original blown motor in 2004, a gamble on a free motor in a swap didn't pay off hence the full blown build now. So there is over 500 pics in there, but not all of them are the project, some are of shows I went to that I put in the photo bucket so I could post them in forums. Its not all in order either, the first pages are the latest stage of the build. Heres the album, don't have to go through it all tonight.

In there you will see two pics of a black trans am with red C5 vette wheels, that one belongs to my friend, the show is the annual campus car show we had out there.

The Hawks 5 inch would look better, Camaros look better with camaro parts IMO. But that is me. I do see some with the firebird spoiler. As for that white 84 TA, I thought it may have been a 15th anniversary 'that lost parts over the years. It wasn't. Still may have been but it was a lost cause. That was down by Jimmy's Towing and Repair in Byram past the Exxon before you hit Rt 80 via 206. Its long gone now, I think it was for sale for a while too. He has other cars there, notably a 73 Firebird that is rotting away because he won't part with it. I believe I was told by someone on here it wasn't a legit Trans Am. More likely a Formula or a base Firebird with a spoiler. My car landed on the list of rare/desirable third gen F bodies being one of 7,051 with the L69 and T5. But that wasn't rare enough and the mileage was too high to justify restoring it to factory specs. I decided to have fun with it. Since there were enough out there that if I wanted a stock L69 5 speed combo I could find one. That album will be updated with more pictures as I build the car. Where you painted your engine Chevy Orange, I am going to go with Pontiac Metallic blue. Fitting for a Pontiac.
