monsoon amp parasitic draw?
As the title says.. I believe i have a draw from my amp, it originally took a few days of sitting to kill my new battery, replaced all my speakers and now i could kill it in a day.. is it normal for these amps to do these? How do I make sure it is the amp

Hook up a multimeter between the battery's ground cable and the ground post on the actual battery. Set the meter to amps and make sure the cable is in the correct location, mine is separate from the volt/ohm post. Also, ensure the fuse is good inside of the meter, they are usual 10 amp glass tube fuses. Now on to the testing. Ensure all of your doors are closed, lights off, radio off, etc. Nothing should be on that draws power! Note the reading on the meter. If it is under .035 amps, you are ok. If it is over, you need to start pulling fuses and isolating circuits. Since you are suspect of the amp, I would recommend starting by unplugging the harness going to it. If that brings your reading into an acceptable amount, have a beer. If it doesn't, you need to continue your search for the draw. I would recommend pulling the radio fuse next. Remember, you can't do this with doors open etc! You may have to pull the fuse or somehow disconnect the circuit for the door if it has to be open. You will also have to give time for the computers to go to sleep, this can take several minutes or should kill them as soon as you disconnect the battery then hook up the meter.

This link should help if you don't completely understand my explanation.

You can just latch the doors so you can get in and out.
But yes do exactly what he said. charge your battery up also. A discharged battery can do weird stuff.

Now with the gm styled batteries where the terminal bolts go into the battery.. should I put it on the bolt and the cable?

One side on the bolt and one side to the battery. You are putting the meter in-line with the battery.

Use like an alligator clip or something similar to hold the meter to the battery itself and the other probe to the cable/bolt. I would do it to the cable to ensure a good connection. You can probably just slip it inside the boot and clamp it with vise grips.

I'm also suspicious of my security system (factory...) being a possible culprit

Just pull fuse by fuse until it drops and when it drops find out what is on that circuit

Ha! Ive had this problem for Yeeaarrrsssss. I put a new amp in it and I still have the same issue. I am noticing that my facotry radio is now going in and out from time to time and I get a weird code on the screen *havent looked it up to see if it means n e thing yet*. I also have to take out the radio acc fuse or she goes dead in a day. I ended up just putting battery tender on mine while in the garage. She has issues but I still love her. Good luck with it

That sounds like a BCM issue as it contains the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) module and they are known for doing that.

A contact issue like the solder joints that break or just an electronics issue ?

I think I have heard sometimes that a contact breaks but it might not always be the case. I think if you google around, you should find an ls1 bcm fix.
