Anyone Paint engine covers and stuff

Hey guys and gals,

Anyone know how to paint plastic and aluminum parts in the engine bay? I bought a CAI from cold air inductions for my 2011 2SS/RS. I do not want to keep the aluminum look of the unit. I also want to remove the fuse block cover and paint that. Anyone know how to do this or knows anyone that can do that?

Thanks a bunch

Social Networks:

Not sure how anal you are but most of the time a rattle can will do the trick.
I like to use high temp paint for anything under the hood

Other wise you have air brushing, spray gun, powDer coat, plastidip.

Careful very easy to go crazy and get tacky paint matching or something Good luck and what, kinda color scheme you thinking

Its not hard at all and and everyone that knows a thing or two will tell you its all about the prep work prior to actually painting. Rattle can paint would work fine, ideally you would use a type for plastic(will flex some) and a good primer. Also sand down(if its the smooth look your going for) and then clean it thoroughly by using a prep-sol product that removes oil grease wax etc. and wipe it down good with a lint free rag or towel. Then paint it in light coats and keep the can moving side to side. Don't push down to spray if the can isn't in motion, you'll avoid drips and runs that way. That's a basic explanation for the average at-home person.

Oh and the aluminum pipe(I'm guessing its that) you'll want to scuff it up so the paint will adhere, Id suggest around 220-320 grit sandpaper

also if you have a place to hang it or put it down that is also helpful so you don't have to hold it and spray it
