lt1 voltage drop above 3800 rpm, new alternator...help

well here goes another fantastic problem. 94 lt1, new alternator, new belt, 4 gauge charging wire from alternator to battery

if i rev the car in neutral or get on it in any gear once it gets to 3800+ rpm the check gauges light starts flickering on, volt gauge goes down towards red, gauge lights dim and flicker, and headlights dim and flicker a little. that was all at first, and it was extremely intermittent, like once a week. now, its becoming more regular, and also just going down the road it started acting up at 50 mph cruising at 2k rpm. its making me nervous as i dont want to get stuck somewhere with my daughter in the car.

anyone have any tips or clues as to what this may be? this is the second new alternator in 2 months (autozone duralast gold, first one warranty upgrade from a reman that smoked in a week). thanks in advance

well since they dont have one in stock, i sat here playing with stuff. tried changing grounds, making new ones, adding grounds to block, etc. ended up jiggling the exciter wire for the alt, problem now went away....? im starting to hate this car, it seems like every electrical thing likes to cook melt or burn up. im having intermittent ignition switch issues again too. i even yanked the alarm system out to try to stop that problem to no avail.

Start checking your harness, god knows how the alarm was wired it. I know on mine they cut the main ignition line under the column and tapped a few other wires. If you wanna be done with it, but a speartech or similar harness.

I have a 96 harness if you wanna try another engine harness. Would just leave CPS unplugged etc.

For the record, our alternators are not made in China and our Gold units are built new by Remmy.
You can apologize later.

when I had my 94 Z and the alternator went before it actually went it was doing that. then with it running while troubleshooting something else it decided to was gonna go in my face. which was fun
