Tremec Magnum T56??
Has anyone bought the Tremec Magnum T56 Tranny? is it worth getting it and worth the 3000 bucks? Can your tranny T56 be rebuilt to match the same as the Magnum? I am working on entering the Texas mile and I need something that can handle power through all 6 gears.

T56 Mag is the aftermarket version of the TR6060. A stock T56 can be built up even stronger than a Mag if you pick the right shop to do it.
You can send your T56 to D&D, RSG, Hanlon, Tick, or one of those places. You can ship in a Rubbermaid container.

Gonna have to disagree with that first statement. You may be able to build a T56 to be as strong a stock magnum, but the magnum is a much better trans when done right. The larger 6060 gear sets will outlast any in a T56. This is especially important when the transmission will see stress for long amounts of time, like the TX Mile. With that being said, a stock out of the box Mag from Tremec will NOT fit in a 4th gen. Tick and RPM both sell modified units that bolt right in, and are also rated at 900+rwtq (Tick is the better deal IMO). I have the equivalent to that Level 3 in the link above and I don't see it lasting very long on the longer pulls. The one thing that seems to pro long the life of these T56s is installing a fluid sprayer system onto the trans to keep everything lubricated at speed...

Doesn't one of the TX mile record holders have a T56 dog box with an oiling system? Last I heard a PPG geared T56 with an fluid system was the top dog. Could be mistaken though, it's been a while.
Granted that's probably not in his budget nor appropriate.

Both of the faster TX mile cars are now using highly modified 6060s. Back 3-4 years ago they were using the transmissions you were mentioning. All of those really crazy T56s they had were getting custom billet gears and other one off parts made, which costs huge money.
