am i screwed..
pun intended.
99 ws6 ls1 motor. i replaced the water pump today and took off the throttle body for a little extra room.
after the water pump install i was installing the screws that connect the throttle body to the intake. and i could have sworn it went in right, not cross threaded. im not the smartest guy but i know when a screw is cross threaded. so im torquing it down and it gets loose...and this all of a sudden pops out. the screw literally snapped in half.
after it was all put together it started up right and idled fine. i havent had the chance to drive it yet.
what are my options at this point to get this screw out in case i ever needed to remove the throttle body? and whatll it cost?
in this picture this should be extended another 2 inches or so if werent snapped.

Yeah I mean if its running good, you can drive on it for the time being but its probably best to replace it. If you start getting high idles etc, its turned into a vacuum leak and needs to be replaced to repair.

There is a company called HeliCoil, that uses a small drill to go into the center broken stud and then a special bit goes into that, allowing you to back out the stud. If the threads are messed up, you can insert a special coil that will repair the stripped threads.

What intake manifold are you running? Is it a stock LS1 intake or an aftermarket one?

Try it to see if the car runs OK... might be fine. You might get a lean code for unmetered air or a rear 02 code.
Time to do a LS6 intake now

Pull off the throttle body, stuff a rag in the intake, use a left handed drill bit and remove the bolt? Vacuum up and replace said bolt ..

Try extracting it. If it doesn't work then I'll give you mine. You should be just fine though. Do it with the intake off the car.
