I saw the listing before it was taken down. Seems like a roll bar was welded in and the car was set up for drag racing. Probably too much work to make into what I am looking for anyway.

The car on eBay was exactly what I was looking for but the Seller just wasn't answering my emails and I just can't afford to leave my wife home alone with my daughter for a couple days while I fly out since my daughter is still less than a year old. Hopefully something similar will roll around closer to home. I'm keeping my eyes peeled because my wife is completely on board with this now that our student loans and my Cadillac are both paid off.

?? Ad is still up on craigslist Cutting a rollbar off a car just takes a sawzall and a 4" grinder, easy peezy, would take about an hour, then a trip to the scrap metal place and make some $$

The 4:11 rear could be sold off too

How do you like the color blue? $23,450 (overpriced I think) New Milford Conn.

Still very stuck on the color Silver, because painting door jams and the like will probably put me way over budget.

This one looks promising for the price: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Chevro...zz:f:0&vxp=mtr

The paint is a nice driver quality...
That means the paint is crummy, right?

Not necessarily. It might mean there's swirl marks in it, there's a chip here or there in it. but it's a good 20 footer or a good 10 footer that looks great a cruise night but isn't it a go out and win you best of show anywhere. could be the difference between an $8000 paint job and a $28000 are paint job.

If you plan on driving it a lot the $28000 paint job makes it hard to go out driving a lot.

At quick glance this car maybe worth a flight to Texas and back. Looks like it might check a lot of your boxes. Although I wait to hear from Kevin on value I feel that's borderline

OK, silver it is! So this car is from a dealer, so you will pay more for less, always!

Here is the dealer page for this car http://accelautogroup.com/vehicle-details/?cid=463

Vin is VIN: 123379N708138, the 3 in the 3rd position means it started out life as a 6 cyl. Which is fine if you are paying "clone" prices.

It has a 454 with a th350 (SB trans weaker then the factory TH400).

Driver quality paint means it looks fine from a distance, but when you get up close, you can see flaws like orange peel, drips, dullness, poor under surface prep, etc.

Horn, radio and heater, no workee!

Quote:
Wipers: Yes
Horn: No
Brakelights: Yes
Radio: No
Seatbelts: Yes
Heater: No
Air Condition: No
Poor fit & finish around the grill and hood.
Headlight bucket wrong (headlight is 45 deg sideways)
Stiff trunk seal causing trunk to raise up
Original mono leaf 10 bolt rear looks to be there
subframe connectors

Lots of little things poorly done, just throws up red flags for me. If they don't fix the little things, how good are the big things done?

Lipstick on a pig here IMO. Not if it was in the low to mid 20s, then you can overlook a lot of issues, but mid 30s, nah

Actually, I found this the other day: https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/...783724780.html

Needs an entire interior because the red is too... red. The exterior would need to be stripped and painted as well, but it's literally one town over. I've been a little tied up with the holidays and the thirteen trips to the dealership to lock in the new car, but I'm going to go check this out immediately.

It's going to need to be cheap to work though. I don't have it in me anymore to turn wrenches for days on end, so the car is going to need to be stripped down and reassembled by a shop, so it will still need to make sense over just being patient and finding a good, complete silver car.

I was scheduled to see the car at 11am tomorrow. Just got a text that the car sold.

On to the next.

You could always replace the doors when you tear into it for body work and silver paint

Yup!

Usually, smart people put hidden cables in for a manual release option.
