Over on the Vette Forum there is still a 50/50 fued ( more like 55bad/45good) for the people who love the car and the people who have issues with the car. Thats bad when half the people who actually buy corvettes have issues with the new one and are uncertain if they will buy it. If Gm cant sell this new Corvette to the Corvette crowd then who will they sell it to?
As a past owner of an '81 and current owner of a '99, the vette crowd changed when the c5 was released. This was a vehicle, in a sense, that was put through its developmental stages in the artic and the most extreme heat conditions. Point being, it was designed to be an everyday driver. With that, more people bought them w/out being true purists....some became eventually and some just view the car like those 350/370z buyers...a sportscar that could be driven everyday. No doubt gm will still sell a lot of them and until i see one in person i really can;t comment on my like/dislike completely..at first i dislike and now a like it more. What GM wants to do, like every other car company, is appeal to a wider market for increased revenue. If you dislike this one but are a purist, changes are you'll buy a c5z or g/s or zr1. A model year change won't completely turnoff anyone that has a love affair w/the model, but still whether it be a '62 fuelie, '70 lt1, '81 Cali edition 305 c3, xfire '84 or '12 zr1 a vet is a vet. There is a thread dedicated on the 'wave' on the vet forum, how a lot of newer owners don't understand the 'wave' b/c they don't know the lineage of the model or the love affair associated w/owning one...in due time.

Well in theory the Vette crowd gets "younger" every year. Right now its the old timers that can buy the Vette but are from the 50's and 60's but tomorrow's "old guy" will be from the 70's and 80's who, IMO, are into the looks of the newer vehicle styles. Also I think that the people that are more into exotics may consider buying a Vette now

Sorry. its been 3 weeks..

I think most exotic car buyers will still not buy it because its a Chevy! A lot of my import car friends think it looks really good as well. They say it looks like it came out of Japan or Italy but when I ask if they will buy it they still say hell no. Its a Chevy. If thats the take of the Honda crowd then I wonder what the Ferrari crowd is thinking?

I hope I am wrong and I hope it sells great even if the starting base price is 60,000.

I just cant stand the rear of the C7.. It looks Ugly..

I was talking to someone else about that, IMO the last vette to have a decent looking rear end was the C2 and early C3's. GM just cant make a decent looking rear end for the car

The rear is growing on me. Still iffy about it but the rest of the car pushes me over the edge to say "I want one".

The tail lights fight the rear body lines as do the vents. The lights stick out much more.

C6 looks bland and boring now. Amazing what a generation change can do.

I'll rephrase: A standard C6 looks bland and boring. Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1's wider body fit better.

Not when you have the GM nut hugging blinders on. Come next vette iteration Al will be saying how lame this one was.

I looked at Slow-V6's pic of the rear and wasn't liking it, but then realized that was a photochop on the bottom bumper. I'm ok with the real version.

some people like the tiger shark aftermarket bumper on the C5's, i personally hate it.
for the c7, i cant wait until someone makes an aftermarket rear bumper, hopefully improves it

BOOM! That pretty much nails it. I wonder what happens to the air vents? Would be cool if they did their own outlets that looked good....

i dont think it would be too hard to get led light bars half the length of the stock ones and let the air flow out from each side. shouldnt be hard to get done

It's a photoshop, obviously. They actually stole the original picture from a chop that one of our guys over at GMI did.

Boring taillights are boring.

Wow, just what I want to do, buy the latest and greatest Corvette, then turn around and spend another 3K to make it look right

IMO,the lights on that updated rear should be more rectangular with rounded edges just to conform a little more with the "yardstick" designing of the car.

Exactly! Why spend all that money on a crappy rear end when it's perfect from the factory?

Perfectly hideous? I wish the Aztek would've come out this year...it would be hilarious to see you defend that too. BUT ITS FUNCTIONAL! IT CAN BE A TENT!

Thinking about going to the NYC auto show the end of March to see it in person. I know the local vette club is going to be cruising up there as well. Should be about 50 or so cruising up.
