WOW, that cleaned up great! WTF, was there like 20 years of dirt and mold on it before?

it looks like a great find, not exactly my taste in wheels, and I think those tires could probably be burned off, but I hope your son enjoys it, great car over all cant wait to see the finished product

Haven't updated the thread in a while but made a lot of progress today.

I went to change the injectors and had to take apart the intake.

I also had to replace the distributor because it got corroded due to moisture and replaced fuel regulator.

Injectors installed.

Picture with valve cover off it is so clean.

One day away from starting it up just waiting on parts.

Pics of when we changed the fuel tank in November.

Learned that aftermarket fuel tanks fit like garbage.

Sounds almost like its way out of time. Have you unplugged the EST connector and checked base timing? Should be 6-7* BTDC IIRC

We changed the distributor and tried to time it as well as we could. What is the EST connector?

Omar

EST needs to be disconnected to set base timing unless the computer will adjust the timing as you rotate the distributor negating any timing you are trying to add or take away.

my car has the EST connetor under the passenger side dash but i have a painless harness, google provided me this picture

it is a single pin connector, i believe its a tan/brown wire

Yup that's the one. Disconnect it. Start the car and adjust timing. Tighten and double check your base timing. Then reconnect it with the car off. Its normal for the check engine light to trip when its unplugged. The code will clear on its own
