Did you actually lift the front of the car by just the radiator support or is that chain wrapped around something else?

Thats how I did mine the first engine removal and then switched to bolting chain to frame horns since !crashbar.

I used a tow strap and a small piece of wood to help not bend the front lip it wraps around. No bends or kinks.

Yep, and with the LS1 airbox, even if the rad support gets pinched in any way, the airbox covers it up. But it's never really been an issue the both times I've done it. There really isn't much weight on the rad support other than maybe the 750 lbs of the body work of the front end.
