when I parted my camaro I just put up a list, and when someone wanted something, I'd go out to the car and take it out. Seems more sensible than dismantling the entire car first...

one way to learn a car is to take one completely apart. that could be worth its time, if you ask me. but you don't have a place to part it out, so that's out.
you don't want to sell it whole because it has a problem and, well, to put it bluntly, kiss that 6k goodbye.
it has a problem, you are not enjoying the car, you feel the time isn't right to sell it... dude, you've answered your own question. tighten your belt and get through the tough time with the car. you'll fix it eventually.
and you'll probably find it is a lot easier to fix than you think. with a car overheating, it can only be a handful of things: thermostat not working/sticking closed, clogged and/or worn out hoses (you'd be surprised how much the vacuum in the system sucks down on the inside of the hose and if it's well worn that could block off the coolant from circulating in the system), wrong type of cap, coolant leaking into the motor (what color is the smoke, if any, from the tailpipe), coolant leaking from the radiator, radiator blocked... just to name a few. there are other problems and ways of diagnosing them without throwing a bunch of money at it. if it's the thermostat, then you're done for less than $20.
so, don't sell it. do what you have to to make it by without selling it. people kick themselves years later after selling a car they used to enjoy.

theres the never ending circle...cant drive it anywhere out of a 15 minute radius or it will overheat.

just because a part is new does not mean it is without fault. a quick test for the thermostat is to drop it in a pot of boiling water. it should open. if it doesn't, then you have your gremlin.

I'm not sure where your block or heads came from, but any scale built up in the cooling jacket can be real bad. In an educational video about engines I watched a little bit ago they said that about 1/32" of scale buildup has the same insulation characteristic as 1" of cast iron.
Also, what's your definition of overheating? How hot will it get before you shut it down?

the highest i got it to was 220 and then shut it off, it was still climbing when i shut it off (it wouldnt stop so i killed it). i mean i pulled the heads off over the summer it was still overheating then to replace the headgaskets, the water jackets were clean

no, don't get it twisted. helping out is awesome. it's just that i think if he could enjoy the car he would keep it, regardless of the financial squeeze it's putting on him. and i think he would also think twice about selling it if he could land a job...

I'd come by and help out for some beer but I'm not sure where to begin since it seems like everything is in order. It would end up just a night of drinking lol and I'm not too sharp at trouble shooting after a couple beers

Oh also, not sure if you have one of those coils in your lower rad hose, but they help keep the hose from collapsing. They are recommended for high flow water pumps and are good on stock applications too...if you don't have one it wouldn't hurt to try.

nope jim somerset is in somerset county, i live in franklin township its 5 minutes away from rutgers new brunswick, a few minutes from bridgewater, and about 15 minutes away from somverille.
the water pump isnt high flow its just one that i had to buy at advanced auto because the pulley wouldnt fit on the other one i had. thats what im thinking too everything seems to be in order, idk where to look next. i guess timing and air / fuel mixture, but i know nothing about that.
i would definately enjoy it more if it didnt just sit in my driveway all day, and i would definately keep it if i can find a job but its tough. i applied at all these places for being a waiter and no call backs, even though my past job experience looks great..
