yeah, I agree with your feeling about the "killer bee" sound, BUT a lot of the turbo 4-awd cars are badass. I've only put $2K worth of parts into my EVO and am getting 335awhp(425 crank) in a car I can drag, autoX, hell even rally...or more importantly, drive year-round in NJ, traction problem free.
And EVO's have been in single digits for over a year now...the first one was built right in Edison at TurboTrix. It was also running heavier than stock weight(stupid ricer system's, I know, but that says somthing right there).

exactly. follow the money to see if it's an import or not. as far as joint ventures go, i can see the interest from a marketing standpoint and i am sure it is cost efficient, but that just confuses things further. the corvette had a foreign heart at one point.

assembled in the USA does not make it a domestic vehicle, though.

That's my whole point. Why, if racing, would you want to avoid the best bang for the buck? The American v8's are by far the cheapest way to go fast and have fun... they just so happen to sound awesome... so what's up with these American's buying import 4 bangers and putting "performance" parts into them?

Honestly, i dunno why they chose the cars they do. But that doesnt change that fact that ill give my respect to people like john shepard and brent rou, sure they might have 4bangers but they are pretty fast, one is 8.13 and the other one 7.84. I really dont care what kind of car the person has if its fast its fast. Me personally, like i said before, i would take an FXX and go own people at the autox but i dont have enough money.

Don't get me wrong. Being not impressed doesn't mean I don't like them! It's very hard to impress me. As for the TurboTrix evo, is that the bright orange metallic one? If so, I saw it last year and it wasn't running single digits, it was pulling mid to high 10's, I've even got a picture of it somewhere. They were still hunting for the 9's so it must have been REALLY late last season (fall) or this season that they broke that barrier. I talked to the guys running that car and they seemed rather... ah... dumb. Look at the cost of running 9's in an evo and then look at it with a v8 old school method. Again, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have an evo but they're just too darn expensive for what I've seen bringing me back to my point of why race a 4 cylinder when there are lots of v8 choices that'll give you more bang for the buck. i think what george is getting at is that you will never make a rwd v8 handle or tackle the snow/rain/anything mother nature throws at you for the same amount of money he spent on and modding his evo...plus i believe the insurance was cheaper as well

Racing a 4-cylinder is like putting a kick me sign on your back, why do that to yourself? 6 is better but when you can get 8's as cheap as you can in the states why insult your fellow American's by buying and then RACING a 4-banger? I've yet to be impressed with even the evo's. Sure they're in the 12's but last time I checked the fastest evo was still hunting for single digits. How many "old" v8's have we all seen in the single digits, there, nuff said.

yeah, I agree with your feeling about the "killer bee" sound, BUT a lot of the turbo 4-awd cars are badass.

If being different is your thing that so be it. Just don't expect me to give you any kind of respect for racing a 4-cylinder. Make it fast and impress me, THEN we'll talk... I'm still waiting to be impressed.

i think what george is getting at is that you will never make a rwd v8 handle or tackle the snow/rain/anything mother nature throws at you for the same amount of money he spent on and modding his evo...plus i believe the insurance was cheaper as well

BINGO, versitility is the name of my game. You wanna drag race me, that's fine, I will lose to a good number of cars on this sight. After the drag race, I will then challenge you to a autoX or better yet a rally race. I can hold my own for the money I've spent in a number of arenas, under a number of conditions.
I bought my car at the end of last August, and when I got home, picked up a copy of SCC or something like that, and the TT orange EVO had already hit 9's. Figure I picked up a Sept. issue that was released in August and written in July, so TT has been there for a little over a year. In dealing with them, on a one to one basis they come off a little tardish, but they know their shiit. They also have a twin-turbo Viper and new STi in the works.
I'm just saying for drag racing V8 performance is awesome and can't be touched for the dollar when getting into single digits, but not all roads are str8 lines and in NJ, road conditions aren't always optimal.
