**** yeah dude! Could you imagine: 4,000,000 people watching the halftime show... everything goes black. Then out of nowhere, Araya screams "BEFORE YOU SEE THE LIGHT, YOU MUST DIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" As he says die, the stadium erupts in flames, red lights and lasers. Holy **** that would be the best ****ing thing ever!

I didn't see the half time show, Prince makes my stomach turn. My family played a quick round of Texas Hold 'em and I won so my half time show was much better

I dont know if prince actualy plays the gutar of its sync'd in, but whatever, it still sucks, accordin to Dave Chapelle Prince can ball though.
I remember getting front row tickets like eons ago to White Zombie, Pantera, Deftones (when no one knew who the tones were back then) i coned my girlfriend into coming with me by jokingly telling her Prince was opening, she went and durring the deftones she says to me "when does prince come out" i just looked at her and said "yoru kidding right?" never the less, she was pissed

THE MAGGOT!!!!!! the show i saw in atlantic city...they played imortal corruptor and killed the pope...then gor-gor ate satan...it was awsome...and for those of you who have heard the pit stories or been there...i was front an center...then drove my camaro home...took a long time to clean the seats...
o yea...and as a guitarist...i would have liked to see prince fall of the stage and have the guitar impale him...it would be more epic that way

I think what it comes down to is that there's different types and levels of showmanship. While the "performance art" of GWAR definitely has it's niche (back when Slymenstra was in the band that fire dance of hers was killer!), in a venue like the SuperBowl, the idea is to pick a performer that will appeal to the widest audience, including children. If you had your hopes on a Nailbomb reunion show or a GG Allin tribute band, it ain't gonna happen. Prince has been making music since the late 70's and has released thousands of songs since then. He also recently released a record which makes him somewhat current. That makes him a logical choice, IMO. Is he kinda girly? Sure, but that's the performer image that made him famous and what he's known for. Guitar impalement is almost always cool, but probably not his style

Prince blows
Hey prince fans I hate to break it to you but prince sucks, I keep hearing he is a real great musician etc. In what way? No voice, average guitar player, and looks like shat, he looked more like those girls dancing next to him.

Everyone has their opinion but, "no voice, average guitar player?" Compared to who? I just wanna see what everyone's idea is of a "real" musician. Not meant to stir the pot or anything, just curious.

Ok damn, good choice. Not sure how CBS would react to the entire audience singing along to "Dead Embryonic Cells" though (notice I'm assuming you mean Sepultura Max and not Soulfly Max ). Still, not in the same vein.

well, just really the first main stream name that came to mind who sings and plays, I like Phill Elselmo but never saw him pick up a gutar, I like Dimebag Darrel but some ******* in Ohio had to fill him with bulletholes for no aparent reason, I like Rob Cummings (AKA Rob Zombie) but he has no voice in concert and he dont play the gutar, Sherry did throw me a pick once and I will never forget it. I have to admit that I do like Soulfly. but growing up, listening to Van Halen makes me think of a way less stressful time in my life when you could spend all day in the summer time trying to figure out how to spend a $5 bill and workin on my mongoose, everythime I hear Van Halen rifs it brings me back ya know...

Pain of salvation = ****ing super talented on every single instrument (I'm including vocals as an instrument) and none of the dream theater pompousness. So my vote for singer and guitarist goes to Daniel Gildenlow.

OK, again Swedish prog-metal is cool but not in the same vein. I'm talking apples-to-apples comparisons (not apples-to-slabs-of-meat).

Bah, at least you could tell he was really playing, and really singing; not lip-synching and faking like so many other "pop stars" do. Prince's playing was a little sloppy; I'd think being hooked up to a powerful electrical PA system in a pouring rainstorm might make me a ~little~ nervous too. When he opened up at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction a few years back he played incredible.

Dio is back with the Sabbath guys, that would have been great. They could have played Children Of The Sea.
