haha you say "still drive" as if i'm stuck with it. Once I finish school my plans for it will take off and not only will it continue to look better than a 4th gen camaro, it'll perform better then an LS1 too.

he didnt really "hate on the LS1"...besides, the LS1 has its problems anyway...motors arent supposed to have piston slap, no matter how "normal" everyone says it is

I know how you feel, been there many times. When you feel like your throwing good money after bad you just want to walk away. Just don't be too hasty in your decision so that you don't regret it later. I've done that on a few cars and really regret it now! I like my 93, but I wish I had kept going on the 84Z.
On my 84Z, I had built a 355 that was set for a 6-71 blower. Even without the blower in one year I broke a rear, DS (took out the exhaust and part of the floor), broke a clutch, wiped a cam, and broke 3 trans. When the trans broke the 3rd time it wiped out the remaining money I had saved to get the car backhalfed! I got so mad sold the blower to a friend and I drove it up and traded it in on the 93 and said THIS CAR IS STAYING STOCK. And where am I now? Sheet metal is all that's left stock! When I first built the 383 LT1 I pulled my motor apart 3 times before I got it right! All due to stupid little problems. Then it took an entire summer to get it tuned so I didn't get to drive the car for over a year. All I got to do was look at a big pile on money collecting dust!
Anyway, think about your car this way: If you buy another car and keep it long enough, drive it hard enough or start modding it your are going to be in the same place you are now. No car/engine no matter how well built will last forever, things will wear out, and things will break, and you'll always be doing something to the car. That's just the facts of being a hotrodder! And the more you push the limits the more likely you are going to break something! No matter what GEN engine you build. I work at a drag strip and I see everything from stockers to high dollar 600+ CI engines break, trans break. Stuff happens,,,,
What you need to decide is if you want to continue on this project, or start another. But unless you walk away from this hobby it never ends. I think you have it in your blood, you’re not going to be content with stock times, and you’re going to want to push further!
That means you’re going to be stuck in the circle of fix one thing and something else goes wrong. Our cars are NEVER, looking just the way we want, are fast enough for what we want, have all the toys we always wanted. The time we spend driving our cars is the time we get to decide what we are going to change next!
You've run into some really $hitty luck, no denying that! and there ins't really anything that can change it now. All I can say is just think hard about what you want to do.
If you do decide to waljk away from the car, then I would say to part it out, you'll get more money selling parts then trying to sell a none running car.

The LT1 is loosely based on the Gen I small block, only the Gen II's had a reverse cooling system and more advanced fuel inection. Outside of that, an LT1 block looks no different then an L98 or any other SBC 350 made since the 50's.
The Gen III engines were an all new design. They share nothing with the Gen I/II engines outside of bore spacing.
The GenIV engines are an upgrade from the Gen III design, but the L92, LS3 and LS7 have a totaly different head design. Gone are the cathedral ports of the GenIII and early Gen IV V8's, back are the more traditional rectangular ports.
The L92/LS3 and LS7 heads flow tremendus amounts of air from the factory, and the LS7's heads are CNC milled and hand built...some say by people, some say by God.
Oh...and Third Gens > 4th gens. If it wasnt for the LT1/LS1 combo's, GM would have sh*tcanned the Fbody in 94.

I know that LT1's are based on original Small block Chevy's. What I'm saying is after the short 4 1/2 year run that was it..totally new design. The LS1 is what the current Chevy V8 is based off of and it looks like it will be until the LS3 is discontinued. The Gen IV isn't really a upgrade, Besides the displacement it shares so much of the same architecture. In fact the cam in the LS2 is the same cam that is found in the 01 LS6 ZO6. Sure the L92,LS3 and LS7 head design is better but again the other 90% of the motor is based on the LS1.
Also GM sold over 140,000 Camaro/Birds in 94.The last year for 100,000+ F-Body sales. It wasn't until 1996 that the F-body was in talks of being canned

Not every LS1 has piston slap Also some LS1's that have piston slap still are making over 400 to the wheels with high mileage

A stock LS1? LOL joking! Remember there people on different levels. There are tons of people running 10's in 3rd gens and ton of people running 10's in LS1's. You should set your goal's with HP numbers or track times not saying you will be faster than a certain car. Nice Iroc btw! glad to see there are still some good looking ones around!

I was saying that based on the fact that there are people on different levels and to simply "buy an LS1" isn't the answer. I thought you actually believed LS1 is the ultimate engine and nothing else can be better or faster, which is the stuff I hate on. As for goals, mine are set to hp and 1/4 times, believe me. and thanks for the compliments

Correct, not a total redesign of the Gen III to Gen IV, but enough advancements in AFM, VVT, as well as other small technical moves to improve the engines performance. The new heads make the L92/LS3 and LS7 breaths more life into a great and well built engine.

My point was this, that if 4th gens had the same V8 engines as a Third gen, they would have fallen on there face after 93, and 94 would have been there last year.
Fbody has come near the chopping block several times, almost as many times as its almost gone FWD.
