Good news jon, seems they have shut down the Parkway for good between exit 58 - 63 and on and off between AC and Toms River. Going east -west rt 72 and 539 are closed and rt 9 is a stand still right now.

More people are being evaced out and the back fires have blazed up because of the wind.

Yea, just started pouring on this side of the state - hopefully it will make it's way across pretty quickly and help slow things way down.

crazy stuff, my shore house is in manahawkin and we ride dirtbikes all through the pine barrens where it's all on fire. I think they said a spark from a fighter jet practicing over there is what caused it.

The fighter jet let off flares(the kind that divert missles away from the heat signature of the jet's engines) and one of em didn't go out before it hit the ground and started the fire

And not the 1st time they have done it. I'm guessing this time they might catch some flack.

yes, but if the flares didn't go out before they hit the ground you'd think it would be a possibility

Oh, I misunderstood the question. Maybe. Why they need to use live flares for an exercise seems nuts, considering the local environment.

I remember when the pine barrens were on fire years ago, it's gonna take awhile for them to grow back again
