Well, deadtrend is right, his gf has a high cool factor, and teds gf is awesome but has a mustang tattoo. Yours might be 5th since she still has an eclipse.

Yea that was the year, but even if it didnt have the fix (which it probably does) the mods done to it pretty much took care of it.

Thats a lot of car to drive around everyday, itll be like night and day between an eclipse and that. Everyone knows the 2 valve motors are pretty slow, but the 4 valve motors are pretty quick, it should scoot pretty nicely. It should be a little faster than the average stock 4th gen. Just make sure everything is done properly, you wouldn't want her driving around something that has a good possibility of leaving her stranded.

nice looking mustang, be careful buying a car with work done to it. and who cares if its a mustang, at least it's a domestic, so ford and gm are better than imports.

I would never recomend a modded/motor swapped car as a DD for a girl. If it breaks down your not gonna get any help from a dealership, they wont touch that thing. then finding a mechanic with dohc modular v8 skills? But, it is a nice car in general. I would buy one cause the interior is nice, there much lighter than 4th gens, and have tough rear axles and trannies. My order of pref would be a 3rd gen, then a 5sp/FI fox mustang, 4th gen lt1, new edge mustang, then an ls1 4th gen at the top.
Edit: of course i own the car at the bottom of my list

she can handle a rwd high hp car. She has driven my car in rain, she drives her dad's bullitt all the time. She likes the v8's too, she comes to the track with me when I go, and she got the v6 eclipse because she wanted to go fast..er than your average eclipse.

Dunno...all these girlfriend comments....
Lets get some g/f's posing on some cars to find out
BTW - with the right driver that Stang would beat a stock LT1.....easily. Pony's 'open up' with the right gears (anything 4.10 or better).
Anyhows, if she wants it and wants to deal with it (and what a engine swap can mean parts/maintenance/repair-wise) then hop on it Definitely isn't a sloucher car....

my buddys 99 cobra with 373's and exhaust beat my other buddys ls1 ws6 Its def fast than a lt1. You guys dont give the cobra much credit, it is ON PAR with an LS1 car def faster than an lt1 and with those gears and bolt ons that car is a 12 second car period!
And why does it seem everyone on here acts like their are NO girls that can drive or are knowledgable about cars.
He mentioned earlier her family being big ford car people and the fact that she picked that car out means she knows her stuff to an extent, If she wants that car then that should be the car she drives DAILY.
None of us were pro race car drivers when we first started and we wouldnt get better with out learning to driver faster and faster cars shes started with en eclipse and shes working her way up, I know you guys didnt all start with fully modded ls1's right?

its not everyone on here, just a few ignorant ones. Of course there are girls here that can drive and have an extensive knowledge of cars (ahem..) but some girls may want to drive fast or nice looking cars and not want to work on them or be bothered when something breaks.
If she's young, however, I wouldn't recommend a fast car as a DD for ANYONE, regardless of sex, if they're under even 19 or 20 years old. I'm not saying people from 17-20 are all bad drivers, but that's when people tend to think not only are they the best drivers in the world, they're also bulletproof.

I have never been impressed with a Mustang's stock performance (special editions and forced induction excluded). They are great looking cars, and fast as hell with light to moderate modifications. But they have always seemed to perform "OK" and don't perform better than expected stock. At the track I have seen a lot of Mustangs run and most of them are running slower than the LS1 cars. Even some of the Mach 1s and normally aspirated Cobras. Those cars run numbers that reflect their rated HP numbers. LS1 cars run better than their ratings. Constantly.
Before you go all "You are just a GM guy" on me- a good friend of mine comes from a huge Ford family (8 car fleet, 2 stangs) and I've had seat time in pretty much every car they own, and I will admit that Ford makes/made some good stuff. I even came close to buying his '91 5.0 since it was such a solid base for a buildup.
But non special edition and non FI mustangs have always been overrated in stock/relatively stock form to me. If a stock NA Cobra has 320 horsepower then why do they get their ass beat by stock LS1's at the track? And not just a loss- half second ass beatings.
This is probably a great car for her, and from what it looks like there won't be a problem. If she is happy then that's what matters! If she hangs it up, then there is a strong chance that it was too much car for her- regardless of her gender.
