Maybe she suspects that the OP is keeping some other ladies on the side and wants to put something out there to help prevent that? (Not that I agree with it, unless they actually are engaged - then the OP is just asking for big trouble).

its rare, but in some cases, girls who tell their dtf friends about you works for the better.
other times you have to look out for your so-called friends who like to tell girls negative things about you bc theyre jealous and dont want you tapping that.. ive had that happen once or twice
