Had a judge tell me I was too pretty to go to jail once so I kinda use that as a type of mantra. He mentioned racks and some other stuff and I said to myself, Self not going to jail! Worked out good so far.

i would of killed the guy if he did that to mine haha they are idiots, my dad has a bunch of stories about the t/a going through over the years, like passing inspection with no cat twice, but failing for having velcro by the lights....they even flipped out once when my mom took it one day when she had the windows down on a 95 degree day when the ac went out because they thought we were hiding tinted windows, they take it wayyyy to seriously
i just cant wait to take mine in november for the first time being modded..

the LAST time I went to the dmv or MVC as they are called now, dude snapped my locking gas cap trying to get it off the car, didn't realize you had to use a key, then proceeded to fail me for having A BROKEN GAS CAP.
I flipped the eff out then I was approached by a large black man who claimed to be a supervisor who suggested I leave immediately before I have to be taken out of there in a way I may not like. Will never go there again.
One time I saw a dude come in with a C5 vette, dude inspecting it dropped the clutch and spun tires from the initial pull in area to the suspension test area.

If you go early in the morning, you usually don't have these issues. If you go at like, 7am, you get the retired folks who are respectful.

Our cars all go to private inspection. They will all pass any inspection, we only just go for reasons like what happened to Zuuhls.

is it true that if you fail at state you cannot pass at a private place, you must go back and pass through state?

not at all. just bring your failure papers when you go for reinspection. the state sets reinspection prices based on the shop's labor rate.

Sorry but NJ sucks. If it wasn't for the few good people, the pizza and Atco New Jersey could fall into the Atlantic and hopefully take NYC with it.

forget it if you have a lifted truck, I had a 3" body lift in my Ranger.....man I never saw the inspection staff run..... towards me with yard sticks in hand. they were in their glory telling me my truck was too tall.....at the time I only had 31" tires on it.
many years ago the wayne staff was going to fail me for the front parking lights going out when turning on the head lights in my '69 Mach 1.......that's the way it was built....finally the supervisor agreed!

If the truck came from the factory with tires that measured out to 29" or less, then they were right. 4" is the max you can be lifted to go through regular inspection. Anything over and you have to get it tilt tested at one of 3 specialty stations.

They failed my firebird because the horn was too hard to push and the steering column was "loose". It had like 1mm of play like EVERY tilt column does. There all just mad at the world and they dont like older cars one bit. I actually passed emissions which was surprising. Im sure they would have found a way to fail me for that
