Just to add to this some more.

I have read many many more reports of MSD/Accel units failing either right out of the box or after a few miles. Many more than non-factory installed GM units.

I know MSD had a few issues when the first released there product and I think for the most part they are pretty good now a days, but for the price you pay... is it worth it?

I think many people attribute their mistake of getting the opti soaked or similar to the GM unit being garbage. Mine was 100% fine for 75k miles and I replaced it for piece of mind when I swapped cams. I got a new GM unit, and it is doing 100% fine.

I guess to each his own, but I could not justify spending the money MSD wants when a GM unit is much cheaper and has a much better track record.

i agree. i removed mine and from what i could gather, it was original. over 100k on it and it was working fine. simply changing it because its off and i'd rather do it now than later.

its your choice though. i agree with switching to a vented opti now would be in your best interest.
