My problem is that everyone is hung up on the codes and are naming the engines after one or two engines that are part of a series of engines.

I don't like that ALL Gen III an IV V8 engines are "LSX" motors when the LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS6, and LS7 make up a very small mix of Gen III/IV engines, RPO codes that have been reused over and over again.

What is even better is that people are calling the new Gen V engines "LSX" motors, even though they are as different as the Gen III/IV are to Gen I/II.

Just refer to them as "Gen X" motors and stop with the LS this and LT that.

I get what you are saying but since there are 30 different motors in the gen 3 and 4 families and many have LS codes, its just easier to call it an lsx. Gen 5s aren't ls coded so its dumb to call them that, I agree there. Most enthusiasts will tell other enthusiasts its an l98, or lq4, or ls2 and usually base that on the block used but if you are at a car show or maybe trying to be sneaky or just being vague/general, then lsx covers the basis and is understood by most out there. Hell, it sure beats saying its a corvette motor. Also, LSX just looks cooler and has sex appeal compared to grandpa's gen III. Case closed!
