I'm not sure of the determination of the lock up converter. It might have been with a performance package. My buddy's 700 was a non-lockup...that's why it kept blowing apart. It was $600 to fix it the first time, then another $400. He could have bought a new trans with the 2 repairs. TCI streetfighter is about $1500 new from JEGS. Like I said earlier - you can always go for a Richmond 5-speed or T56...
Definitely wait on the gears. Others will confirm this to be true or not, but if I remember correctly, you can't go bigger than 3.73s without changing the carrier or something like that. When I dumped the T-56 in my Z, I wanted 4.10s, and the shop said no - you have more stuff to change cause the ring gear gets bigger and doesn't fit. Confirmations on that anyone???
I was looking for info about the lock-up/non-lock up. Theoretically, it would seem the lock-up to be a better product. Someone more knowledgeable on this???
