Don't accept everything you're told as factual. It's easy for heresay to turn into "fact"

None of this stuff matters. A Camry could eat a baby and people would still buy a Toyota because their uncle's wife's aunt's grandfather had a Ford that once stalled.

QFT.
Quote:
In 1935, the first Toyota automobile engine was produced. The following year, Toyota’s first car, the Model A1, and first truck, the Model G1, were produced. These early Toyota vehicles were nearly duplicates of Chevrolet vehicles of the time. They copied the design of Chevrolet’s overhead 6 cylinder engine, gearbox, and chassis. In World War 2, allied forces that captured Toyota’s vehicles were able to repair them using Chevrolet parts.[1]

And this type of thing still continues to this day. Though not with cars.

That Yahoo! article also stated that to date, Toyota has paid the government over $48 million in fines for selling faulty cars. And that's just this country, because they have recalled over 14 million cars worldwide.
Just a few of the reasons i refuse to buy foreign cars. Especially Toyotas.

That copy-cat stuff wasnt by accident...WE LET THEM HAVE IT!! We wanted to show off our technological and manufacturing dominance. Even AFTER WW2, we did it AGAIN and we helped rebuild Japan's industrial core.

I never said they were worrying about car companies. Was just agreeing the GMboi that we helped rebuild Japan's industries.

A little late to the party, but you guys hear about that Toyota AA they found in Russia a few years back? ( http://www.transeum.com/museums/the-toyota-aa.html) Because of Toyota's copycat business, it was difficult to distinguish from a Chrysler Airflow and it took a while for its authenticity to be verified. More info here:
http://oldcarjunkie.wordpress.com/20...yota-aa-found/
And if you find that interesting, you should look up the VW38 that was found recently as well, although not really related to the convo at all. http://www.vw38.de/

Uh yeah, after they surprized buttsecks us at Pearl Harbor?
We helped rebuild German industry too, after they "removed" 11 million people from the gene pool. We can do this allll dayyy long, but that doesnt change a single thing. I just said that we helped them, thats all.

I wonder if the the people that filed the lawsuit really had issues or they're looking to cash in.
They could have been drunk too.

IMO, before it was a question of culpability and avoiding blame.
Now, it's a typical USA witch hunt.

NASA, NHTSA reports clearing Toyota were influenced by automaker
Quote:
According to the findings of the watchdog group, NASA actually identified “numerous failures in Toyota electronics that could lead to unwanted acceleration.” SRS goes on to make the direct claim that the reports issued by the government agencies were not only “narrowly construed examinations of limited vehicles and components,” but even going as far as to claim that the reports were “heavily influenced by Toyota and its experts, including Exponent [the agency Toyota hired as a third party to investigate the unintended acceleration issue].”

Why are they waiting until April to send first class mail to all owners to let them know about the recall....and then sending another one after that to say it's ready?
Why bother waiting for the first bunch of letters then? It's only March 8.
