The suit should be fine as long as it's accompanied by a bowtie and a martini, shaken and not stirred.

Yes they do for 5 dollars. Also helmets need to be Snell approved from 2005 on unless your running slower than 14.0
They've been pretty strict on the Snell thing last couple Wednesdays

Ok so for those running NA or stock boosted cars, you can run with a long sleeve shirt, jeans, and a Snell approved 2005 helmet? If I dumped a twin turbo LS1 into a Miata I'd need a firesuit? I'm sorry but some of this sounds a bit overkill.
I'm likely not running the GTA, well I could be convinced.... anyway it would be good to know since I suspect the 84 would run low 13s high 12s all day, and the GTA if I run it might run a low 14, high 13 best. Jeans check, sweatshirt check, helmet, would either need to rent or steal the bro's for the day.

Ain't putting bars in a street car, hence asking for clarification.

I'll be lucky to get that low with the 84 if I ever, and I mean ever got the car to hook and launch perfect with slicks. So no worries on the bar but what about safety gear like helmets and firesuits. This thread seems to have gotten out of control in that respect. Helmets I'm told are a must no matter what. But what about the suits?

You don't have a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous right? Don't worry about any fire protection.
You need an apporved helmet that isn't expired, pants, closed toe shoes, and I believe a valid driver's license.

So you're saying that if my brother decides to run his 3800SC Fiero he'll need a firesuit? I mean damn, the 84 will out run that, the 88 will run with it. So if I bought a factory bone stock TTA to Island, I'd need to have a firesuit due to it having a Turbo V6, in spite of it being factory stock? I mean WRXs are turbos off the factory floor, surely you don't need suits for those.

Basic rules. In NJ you need a helmet no matter what. Rules below state 13.99 and quicker
NHRA Rules

I would believe so, it was said that no matter where you're in NJ you need to have a helmet no matter what you run. From what I read on the NHRA rules, even if I had the 84 I wouldn't be able to run it to its full potential due to lack of a driveshaft hoop. Which again, if you're running a street car that was faster than 14s from the factory is a lil absurd considering what runs faster than 14s........ But rules are rules, so maybe I'll sandbag then save the best for last with that one when I'm done with it.

I have never had an issue running without a loop and have never been checked.

I discussed it with a guy I know who has a vette. He just ran at island with it. L98 Vette with mods and he ran 12.71. Said they don't bother with the loops on street cars. Said he just went right through inspection there and they didn't bother checking for a loop. Was a basic safety check.
Edit: And I may just run the GTA mileage be damned... I'm closing in on 500 since the bottom end rebuild.
